Undergrad A few questions on Thermodynamics
I wouldn't imagine there was because gravity influences matter, all forms of energy are essentially also forms of matter and vice versa, so if Gravity would have no effect on something then I would think it would have to be something that's not matter/energy. That said, I know a lot less than...- Dennis_Murphy

Undergrad A few questions on Thermodynamics
Yes, or rather that the next big bang should never be as big as the one preceding it. That would make the 'previous big bang' scenario seem... off in some way. Especially if we are entertaining the notion that it's possible that matter/energy was always in existence then it would mean what we...- Dennis_Murphy

Undergrad A few questions on Thermodynamics
I was referring to Entropy, which would seem to dash the 'always existed' theory, if I understand the second law as well as I think I do.- Dennis_Murphy

News Just a little respect for the President
I was merely discussing on a matter of principle, of course it is your right to say or do what ever you wish to do. I did not intend to spark a debate. What you say has merit and I respect it whether or not I agree with it. Though I do disagree with hanging George Bush and his Cabinet.- Dennis_Murphy

News French Senate Approves a Ban on Burqas
The meaning of the post was simply to start as a basis for the poster to read about Turkey, a Western Democracy that is heavily religious, and about Islamic peoples who went to countries and became citizens so that he may learn, if that was indeed his point. I did not mean to say that he is...- Dennis_Murphy

No it doesn't, but that's why I said to 'read about' them. When you read about them you may well be able to find out if they integrated, how well they integrated, or if they did not.- Dennis_Murphy

News French Senate Approves a Ban on Burqas
If that was his point then I would suggest he read up on Turkey and all the Islamic peoples that moved to the west and became citizens inside those nations.- Dennis_Murphy

News Just a little respect for the President
I would ask how, if you would be willing to explain? It's not just the office that the man is occupying, that's the respect you would give to your boss in the workplace. It's the very will of the people of the United States that he was chosen to lead, that is something that should be respected...- Dennis_Murphy

Undergrad A few questions on Thermodynamics
From my understanding I was under the impression that the laws of physics were supposed to be universal laws for our universe and that they would remain such even as the Universe tore itself asunder as some theories claim will happen in the distant future? Perhaps it's just youthful curiosity...- Dennis_Murphy

News Just a little respect for the President
Each elected person is chosen by the people for who they think will best fight for their interests. It's their fault for re-electing the same dirty/corrupt/self immersed/ignorant people over and over again. ----- In any case I believe the topic of the discussion is supposed to be about...- Dennis_Murphy

Undergrad A few questions on Thermodynamics
Okay, so that would mean if all the energy in the universe were to culminate in one area then it would collapse inwardly on itself and then explode creating, essentially, a whole new universe? Would that imply that energy always existed, would this not make energy infinitely dilute? Or does it...- Dennis_Murphy

Undergrad A few questions on Thermodynamics
This is my first post here and first time visiting here as a non-guest user so this may be in the wrong spot. Is the first two laws of Thermodynamics contradicting? I will try to explain the question from my rather uneducated viewpoint: Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only...- Dennis_Murphy
