Grasping the Basics of Newtonian Physics: A Quick Review

physicsnovice, you may try out Fundamentals of Physics by Resnick, Halliday and Walker. The text is wonderful and the concepts (along with the formulae) is very clearly explained. And I am sorry for not being able to explain the problems properly. I will try my best next time. Thank you.

Grasping the Basics of Newtonian Physics: A Quick Review

We know that Weight of a body on Earth (W) = mass of the body (m) x acceleration due to gravity (g). But F=\frac{GM}{R^2} where M is the mass of the Earth and R the radius of the Earth. Combining the two equations, we see that m is inversely proportional to R^2. I will put up the rest...

actually after doing a back calculation, i believe it should be 2cos(3x). darn mistake, really gave me a headache. anyways thanks for all your help.

    Velocity of the middle compartment

Hi Tide! Why would it be the average of the two velocities. Considering that the train is moving in a circular track, then v1 is pointing in one direction, v2 in another, so the final would be the average velocity of v1 and a component of v2... Am I wrong somewhere... please help me to clear...
