Tattoos and Piercings in academia and beyond

There's a book by Carl Zimmer titled "Science Ink" that goes into detail about scientists that have tattoos, or people who are aspiring to be scientists. It isn't worth the price (It's hardcover with fancy writing which means $$$), but if you get a chance to look through it, there are some...

Late Dennis Ritchie: Creator of C Programming Language

This is a real shame. As well, I might add, it is completely and utterly appalling to read about everyone suddenly cursing Steve Jobs and his death. Not on this forum which I'm glad to see.

The best physics conversation you've had with a novice

I remember watching this: http://www.ted.com/talks/sean_carroll_distant_time_and_the_hint_of_a_multiverse.html and trying to explain it to someone who has had next to no run ins with physics of any kind. She kind of just went silent and backed away. Another one was trying to explain a few...

Do You Use The F Word In Real Life?

All the time. I have no problem with the word, but if I know someone else will, I will watch what I say. I get frustrated too much for the lack of stress in my life, and a lot of it stems from personal image, man VS self stuff that's going on. I do try and keep my language down though. Kind of...

The Struggling Life of Common Moorhen at University Lake

Haha, I love this video. :approve: One of the videos that cemented my love for crows. Everyone hates them around here, but they're brilliant birds and I love their look. Underrated birds.

    Question pertaining to Alchemy Diagram

No point to make, like I stated, I was just curious about the meaning behind it; I did not know what said diagram meant, so I figured I'd ask on a forum where there might be people with some form of background on the matter. Thank you for the link. Thanks for all of your input, I...

    Question pertaining to Alchemy Diagram

Excellent, thanks for your reply. Like I stated, I kind of figured it has something to do with an eternal cycle, and the seven stars, but that's kind of broad, haha. Always matter being destroyed and created to coincide with some sort of balance, I guess? Anything spring to mind...

The Struggling Life of Common Moorhen at University Lake

Run at the heron whenever you see it. It will fear you and never come back. Unlike crows, of which will remember your face. Ducks are the sheer definition of arrogance.

    Question pertaining to Alchemy Diagram

Before you go all skeptic on me, I am just curious of the meaning of this: My friend and I are curious. So far we've gathered, - Ouroborous - The Seven Stars Raised some assumptions referring to the eternal cycle of life. I understand it's not exactly within the realms of...

My Lobotomy: A 23-Minute NPR Radio Piece on Howard Dully

Probably not. Did you see the bit about "Freeman like to show off, sometimes doing a double handed icepick procedure" ? Honestly, it's horrible.

What Kind of Citrus Fruit is This?

I have no idea, Danago. I thought I'd do a quick google search for wrinkly pears, but having the search filter on "Do filter my search results" only managed to scar me. A guy I know said they might be some form of Etrog.

What makes physics so fascinating and appealing?

I don't like it because I'm childish and hate getting answers wrong. Aside from that, I really love the concepts. Very interesting school of thought involved with physics.
