Can I Double Protect My Outlets with Outlet Surge Protectors?
Good afternoon, I have installed a whole house surge protector. Can I also "double protect" a few outlets with outlet surge protectors as well? I've read where you shouldn't piggyback surge protectors and didn't know it the additional outlet protectors would interfere with the whole house...- DonL

Can I extend my water pump's wiring to control it remotely?
Good morning Jim, Ive had the shallow well pump running nicely on the #12 wire for about a year...just wasn't smart enough to test it at start up. I'll make sure it's up to snuff. Great idea about a cup a joe. This bunch is tooooo funny! (Could be I could hook up a few 100 ft extension cords...- DonL

Can I extend my water pump's wiring to control it remotely?
Good morning Krater, I absolutely do NOT want to dig up the existing #12 wire. I have measured the voltage and amperage of the well pump while it was running and they check out to spec...8 amps and 230 volts as required. However, I never thought of measuring at start up. I will do that today...- DonL

Can I extend my water pump's wiring to control it remotely?
I appreciate your input Nova. I realize, now, that I was foolish to stretch the limits of the #12. DUHHH on me. Looks like I'll be burying another wire. Ugh! Thanks so much, DonL- DonL

Can I extend my water pump's wiring to control it remotely?
Thank you so much Mr. Magoo. Now that you explained it, makes perfect sense that the #12 would need to be capable of handling the full load. Can't thank you enough for your sage advice. DonL- DonL

Can I extend my water pump's wiring to control it remotely?
Good afternoon Wizards, (there are some really smart people here!) I have wired up my 1 hp water pump with #12-2 wire w/ground on 220 volts right at 400 feet. It registers the correct voltage and amperage at the pump. According to the wiring chart that came with the pump, I think I'm at the...- DonL

Finding Buried Electrical Wire - Don in Hendersonville
Good morning 'Nova, I'm pretty certain I can find at least one end of the wire. I will research your solution and see what I can figure out. I am a mechanically inclined person, but will have to study up on the terms and equipment you mentioned. Thank you much for taking the time to reply. Don- DonL

Finding Buried Electrical Wire - Don in Hendersonville
Yes, Rootone, it was previously used to power a submersible pump for a mobile home water supply. The home was taken off the property but the wires were not marked. I have a general idea of where to start digging, though.- DonL

Finding Buried Electrical Wire - Don in Hendersonville
Thanks for the suggestion, nsa. As that length of wire will be expensive, I am being a cheapskate in an attempt to reuse the wire that's already there. Again, I appreciate your response.- DonL

Finding Buried Electrical Wire - Don in Hendersonville
Good evening all you wizards, How would I locate each end of a buried electrical line? It was disconnected some 15 years ago, used to energize a submersible pump for a house water supply. It is probably 300 feet in length...I would guess it would be a 10-3 or 8-3 awg wire? I know the general...- DonL
