How much money do Physicists make?

Keep in mind if you are good at what you do the money will be there. If you are in the top 5% of bakers you will be making more money than if you are in the top half of lawyers. If you find something that you can be interested in and excel at money will not be a problem.

Programs Can an Engineering Degree Lead to Graduate Studies in Physics?

Keep in mind that EE is extremely broad ranging from E+M to Power Systems to Computers to electronics and much more. You could probably tailor your EE degree towards the theoretical physics aspects

Geometry & Topology REU Programs - Williams, Cornell, Tennessee, Indiana?

Just an idea for those seeking an REU this summer: If your plans fall through and you don't get an offer from any of your first choices keep an eye out for listings in random places well after the normal Feb - Mar deadlines. Places like Monster job boards where you wouldn't expect to see it...

Comparing IT vs Engineering for High School Juniors

You can plan to enroll in undergrad as an undecided engineer. Usually all kinds of engineering have the same first year courses. Then you can get more of a feel of what kind of engineering you'd like. Also plenty of kids that decide not to stick with engineering then move to comp sci or to...

    Engineering Electrical Engineering Specialization

So I've been looking for some DSP jobs and all I can find is that there is many of them. The only company I found that are specifically looking for DSP besides Universities is NSA. I've spoken to recruiters from the NSA and it really isn't the kind of work I want to get into. Any examples...

Undergraduate Research: Avoiding "Cookie Cutter" Projects

I'm going to advertise my REU that I'm finishing in 2 weeks. Its Coding and communications theory at Utah State University. We had a 2 week crash course on everything from information theory to probability. Then we were presented about 15 problems and either in pairs or individually we all...

Schools Engineering & Physics Programs: College Guidance for High School Seniors

I can vouch for University Park. They have a big Physics department and are very big on Research. They also have a separate college just for engineering including almost every engineering discipline.

Schools I'm in community college at the moment taking math courses

For engineering disciplines almost all programs stop at differential equations mathwise. For physics i know you continue, but it depends on where you are. It may not be obvious. I know at penn state phys 497 is the same exact course as math 497 but different majors put it on there...

Choosing Between GPA and Knowledge: A Tough Decision for Academia

Maybe you should think about taking option B, but audit the class. If you sit in on the lectures it could satisfy your interest and wouldn't take up too much time away from your other classes. I know some university you can take credit by examination at the end and just get pass/fail...

Preparing for Research at Utah State University

Hi I'll be going to Utah State University this summer doing research in coding and communications theory. I actually have no idea what coding and communications theory entails. Is there any sort of preparation i should do learningwise before i go out there? I don't want to get there...
