Eccentrically loaded foundation (Meyerhoff theory)
Let's say my original L = 3.2m , B = 3.0m , e= 0.2m, , the eccentricity is in the direction of L ... So , L ' = L-2e = 3.2-2*0.2 = 2.8m , B ' = B = m ...So, we need to reassign old L' = B' = 2.8 ? whereas the old B' = 3 = L' ?- dss975599

Solving Consolidation Pressure: Half Layer of Clay?
Homework Statement I don't understand why the pressure before the construction of foundation is given by (2.5)(16.5) + (0.5)(17.5-9.81) +(1.25)(16-9.81) only ?. Why the pressure is taken only to the half of the layer of clay only ? Homework EquationsThe Attempt at a Solution I think it's...- dss975599

Eccentrically loaded foundation (Meyerhoff theory)
Homework Statement For this question , I tried to use L' = L -2e and B '= B , i ended up getting different final answer when i use L ' = L , B'= B -2e In the notes , we can see that if the eccentricity were in the direction of length of the foundation , L '= L-2e , and B'= B ... But , in this...- dss975599

Shear force and bending moment
and how do you get ##M=110-47x+7.5x^2-\frac{1.25x^3}{3}## for (2<x<6) ? By integrating ##V=1.25x^2-15x+47## for (2<x<6) , i gt ##M=0.42x^3-7.5x^2+47x## for (2<x<6)...- dss975599

Shear force and bending moment
Thanks for your answer , i have obtained the SFD as in the online calculator , but i have no idea to get the area under the SFD to get the BMd. Do you know how to get the area under the SFD so that i can plot BMD based on SFD ?- dss975599

Shear force and bending moment
I doubt that my MA = 5(2)(1/2)(2/3 x 2) + [ (10x4x4) - (10x4x0.5x(2+(2/3)(4)) ] +2(10) , thus MA = 73.33kNm. is correct or not ? Can someone help to check ?- dss975599
