New to PhD in Control Systems?
Wow! A doctorate in control systems! I am reading up on Bode plots and having a tough time grasping a few concepts.- dvscrobe

Where is the 'Origin' on a Bode Plot?
DaveE, okay awesome! Thanks. So that definitely answers where the origin is at. I think what confused me is if a pole or zero is not at the origin, then would the bode plot shift over to that spot or remain at the origin. In the article, if you see where they trace it, it is over the origin and...- dvscrobe

Where is the 'Origin' on a Bode Plot?
I was reading through this article. It was very good at explaining the 3rd dimension of the S-plane. The 3rd dimension is the gain. That was an eye opener for me. So, is the origin on the S-plane where the sigma axis crosses the jw axis? Transfer Function Analysis | Basic Alternating Current...- dvscrobe

Where is the 'Origin' on a Bode Plot?
Wasn't sure where exactly to post this. It isn't a homework problem. I am studying for my Fundamentals of Engineering exam and am struggling with control system problems. Can someone tell me where exactly the origin is on a Bode Plot? I understand the general concept of poles and zeroes but I...- dvscrobe

Digitize AC Voltage & Current Signals - Solutions for Split CT
Averagesupernova, yes, thanks. Had to think about that a little. Since real and reactive powers can be added to find total real and reactive power, I could measure the phase-ground voltage on one leg and the CT current on same leg to measure the 120V loads there, then do the same concept for the...- dvscrobe

Digitize AC Voltage & Current Signals - Solutions for Split CT
Hello Anorlunda, I am a resident, so singe phase, not three phase. I need to be able to sample the voltage and current. For sake of a grade, I would be comfortable with just displaying real power. Reactive would be nice to have. The goal is for me to see on a remote graphical device (wireless)...- dvscrobe

Digitize AC Voltage & Current Signals - Solutions for Split CT
Hello Berkeman, I am looking for power consumption of entire home. Just the real power would be fine but having both real and reactive would be awesome. Don't care about harmonics or line quality. The accuracy should be to display to the nearest Watt and Var. Computer resources? Well, I was...- dvscrobe

Digitize AC Voltage & Current Signals - Solutions for Split CT
I am looking to digitize AC voltage and current signals that are measurements from my breaker panel. Any thoughts on what could be used to digitize the AC current? This current would be coming from split CT.- dvscrobe

Aliasing Phase Shift: Determining Phase Shift
Phase conjugate? Negative phase? Wow, okay, that does seem to make sense. The problem wasn’t asking me for a specific angle but whether it was positive or negative as compared to the frequency being sampled. Thanks!- dvscrobe

Aliasing Phase Shift: Determining Phase Shift
I guess I am a little confused here. I am studying for my FE Exam. I am stuck on problem 8.1c and d. I get that the highest frequency being sample is 1500 and the sampling frequency of 2000 is not high enough. It needs to be at least 3000. That I am good with. It's the recovered signal that I am...- dvscrobe

Aliasing Phase Shift: Determining Phase Shift
My apologies, I think was referring to the perceived signal. Would there be a phase shift between that and the signal being sample?- dvscrobe

Engineering Reverse Current PMDC Motor Braking Using Power Electronics
Baluncore, I probably should have posted in homework section. Would you please take a look at the second problem? Is my thinking off? The supply voltage is being controlled by an electronic drive. My thinking is that if I lowered the terminal voltage, KVL dictates a reverse current. But that...- dvscrobe
