Engineering in Higher Education - significant figures
Isn't this what lead to the failure in 10th mission of Space Shuttle disaster? Finally Richard Feynman, a physicist, is the one who uncovered the cause of the disaster despite his inexperience with NASA and outer space mission. During his investigation he also found out that there were very...- e.pramudita

Engineering in Higher Education - significant figures
Engineering in Higher Education -- significant figures I am currently in my 4th semester. It seems that every engineering textbooks I encounter have no regard of significant figures (SF). Every problems and examples I encounter are like that. Mostly integers, some have decimal figures, but...- e.pramudita

Calculating height given pressures and temperatures
Thanks you all for your responses! Still confused with conversion. For example \ln \frac{46°F}{70°F} ≠ \ln \frac{506°R}{530°R} If the units inside ln are the same, then the number inside ln is without unit (the units cancel each other). Thus how come the calculations above are not equal...- e.pramudita

Fluid Statics - Forces on Submerged Surface?
QUESTION Rainwater collects behind the concrete retaining wall shown in the figure. If the water saturated soil (specific gravity 2.2) acts as a fluid, determine the force and center of pressure on a 1-m width of the wall. PROBLEM 1. What does it mean by 1-m width of the wall? Is it 1-m...- e.pramudita
