I was hoping there might have been a magnetic field test when the steel is stationary and when it was moving.
The same concept might apply to a material with a high dielectric constant moving at high speeds, and the electric field be effected on the other end of the material.
i will try...
I recently learned about the Fizeau experiment,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fizeau_experiment"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fizeau_experiment[/PLAIN]
showing that light moves with a moving medium to an extent.
However i was wondering what would happen with a magnetic field in a moving...
electromagnetic radiation comes from an accelerating electric charge.
it is the acceleration of the charge that emits photons.
It is different from an electric field from a stationary charge.
ok thanks for responses, i was curious about whether light actually created its own gravitational field.
As for magnetic and electric fields, i know it takes energy to create them, so i am guessing this would have to cause a mass increase in the object containing the field.
so there is no...
I was looking at light sources Bending in Accelerating objects from this astronomy page
http://www.astronomynotes.com/relativity/s3.htm"
Then i began to wonder if this moving elevator was made of glass then the light would
hit the glass and "move slower". Then if the glass was moving i was...
Is there any effects on electric fields or magnetic fields in a Gravitational field?
I know that electro-magnetic waves(photons) are effected from the bending of space and time, from gravity.
however i was just wondering how magnetic fields or virtual photons respond to gravity.
Any...
the problem i face with Biot-Savart law and briefly looking at Jefimenko's equations from wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biot%E2%80%93Savart_law"
is finding the current or current density of a small charge such as an electron, or a point charge
based on its velocity.
The way i...
Ok, i think i have a better understanding of the concepts, though i don't really understand
all of those formulas.
If i were to keep it simple and just consider two moving point charges with the same charge
and velocity.
would the forces be?
Electric Force
Fe=k(q1 x q2)/d2
Magnetic...
Does Acceleration affect Lorentz contraction?
Suppose their was a Circle spinning around its center then its outer edges would decrease in length.
looking somewhat similar to a saw blade or something.
This doesn't make sense though because then then object would change shape depending...
Does a moving charge create a magnetic field?
At first the answer was obvious to me, since I = Q/t then if a charge is moved it is simillar to an electric current, and electric currents create magnetic fields.
However in a conductor, an electric current consists of electrons moving past...
