I excluded universes with different parameters because the main argument would still be the same. The only difference is that the number of universes similar to ours would be vastly smaller in comparison to the whole plethora of universes in the multiverse.
Also admittedly I know very little...
This topic seems to have gone a bit off track from the original question. The question is in the metaphysics domain, which I like to ponder about so I'll try to give it a shot.
First of, I'll restrict my definition of multiverse to a (possibly infinite) number of universes operating under the...
I think you've just answered your own question there. Why do objects keep moving or stay at rest when no forces act upon them? It does indeed seem to be just an inherent property of the universe we live in. Now the question of why our universe has this (and other) inherent properties, that is a...
I can imagine people get sick of the topic yes, since it never leads to a conclusion anyway. Also I've never had a facebook account, but I don't think I'm missing much without it :D
Reading about Maxwell's demon helped me understand better why entropy doesn't decrease in closed systems. Its a thought experiment, very easy to visualize and follow.
I also use an arrow on top, I don't see how it can be more time efficient or more easily recognizable.
But instead of an arrow like this --> with a v-shaped head I only give it one stroke to the top like in this picture:
An arrow like this is done in 1 smooth pen-movement, yet obvious and neat.
Hi,
I've been enthralled by physics for a few years now. I've mainly been reading a lot of books about it, each book adding to my excitement and fascination of the subject. So much that hopefully I'll be an official student of physics by september. :)
I enjoy talking about physics, including...
If you want to learn the entirety of knowledge about nature that humans have gathered so far, it would be an impossible task for one person to complete. If you were born two centuries ago (maybe even one), it would still be a feasible goal I believe. A lot of the great early scientists were...
I am fascinated by physics because, as was stated above, I consider it to be the most fundamental of sciences (lets leave out that mathematics debate eh ;) ). The realization that everything in our world follows unchangeable laws that we can discover is ... well, fascinating!
Unlike human-made...
Alright, any pre-Calculus book you particularly recommend or will any do?
I thought I'd give Spivak's book a try cause I've seen all of the formulae on the first pages before. Sadly though, I've apparently no idea how to use them :(
My maths knowledge is limited to what I saw in high school. I studied ICT in high school so we got quite a lot of maths compared to most other study-directions.
I live in Belgium though, our school system and standards are quite different to american and UK ones (better in my opinion).
Hi,
First of all, sorry if this kind of thread has been posted before. If so, then a reference to that thread would be appreciated :)
So here we go.
I always found maths to be boring in school, I did ok, but I didn't like it. But lately I've started to become fascinated by it. String- or...
