Complex 2 variables and 2 unknown abstract question
The page its from is actually a question solution however they didn't explain how to solve that particle part. I did as you said earlier, however, the b^2-4ac section came out negative so I was unsure I was going in the right direction. Anyone able to advise? Regards- EngineeringDave

Complex 2 variables and 2 unknown abstract question
The overall question is on non steady fluid mechanics however the part on stuck on boils down to the two equations below, which I am unable to solve. X = 122.3 (2 - Y) Y= 0.18 * SQRT( 100 + X ) the text states the equations are satisfied by Y = 1.903 and X = 11.82. To prove this isn't a...- EngineeringDave

Rack and Pinion Calculation help
Just to be aware this isn't homework this is a design concept and although calculations aren't required I'd like to assess a rough assessment of possible power generation figures. The concept is a weight which pushes down upon the rack hence turning a pinion on a shaft which has lots of of...- EngineeringDave

Are Displacement and Deflection the Same in Beam Analysis?
Hi I am tackling a question which combines Beam deflection with Bending Virtual Load. I am wondering whether the displacement found at a point through complementary energy (virtual load) is the same an the deflection through beam integration at that same point? It maybe a stupid question but...- EngineeringDave

How Do You Calculate Member Forces Using the Unit Load Method?
Hi I was hoping someone could clear something up for me, I've been set an virtual load (unit load method) question at University, that part of the question I can do however its the calculating the force on the members part that I am struggling with. The question asks for all the forces in the...- EngineeringDave
