Define Engineering (or describe)
If you are interested in how something works and is built plus your math skills are above average then engineering may well be for you. If you where the kid that pulled the lawnmower apart and then almost killed yourself playing with the sparkplug you are an engineer for sure. Note...- engineroom

Is there life in the universe, and if so has it visited Earth?
Given the vastness of space I cannot rule out the existence of life on another planet. It is possible that life does exist and I don't think one has to believe in Creation or Evolution to accept the possibility, my argument is: 1) Creation: Just as God created Earth, Adam & Eve etc He would...- engineroom

Fuel Saving Thread: Motoring Tips & Tricks
With respect to fuel saving driving technique and the size of the vechicle are the keys. Optimum speed for mileage per gallon
The opitmum speed is ZERO or was that too obvesious. Knowing how car makers like to work the figures the optimum will be at whatever speed the Government decides to test at. With diesel engines it is a little easier to do the calculations as the makers publish fuel consumption figures...- engineroom

Where Can I Find a Suitable 12 Wheel Rim for My Vehicle?
Assuming you are a bit uncertain working out the stud pattern and if your preferred supplier is local go for a visit and take the hub with you. The supplier will be able to take all the measurements needed and this way you will get the right rims.- engineroom

Is Rocketing Nuclear Waste into the Sun a Viable Solution?
One thing with N proliferation (power or weapons) is that country A might have a nice (read western friendly) stable government today so they are "permitted" to build these facilities however what happens in the future if there was a coup? I'm not as worried about Iran having N power or even...- engineroom

Station blackout in nuclear power plants
In very simple terms an emergency generator is capable of suppling the critical items of plant on site that are required to keep things safe; for example cooling pumps and basic station lighting. To start any power station up from cold it requires power and quite a lot at that. Normally when...- engineroom

How can a diesel engine be protected from extreme cold air conditions?
We are looking at placing a normally asspirated diesel engine in a few cold climate. The engineroom will normally be heated. When the engine runs there is a ventilation system that will start up and draw outside air and also expel air from the engine room to outside, this is necessary otherwise...- engineroom

Can Better Bus Systems Save US Suburbs?
City planning has to be pedistian & bicycle friendly. Bus priority lanes also work very well. Any alternative to the car has to be quick & easy. Design of many major facilities is not in favour of buses. For example have a look where the bus stop is in relation to the front door of your...- engineroom

Air Change Rate with Low Air Circulation
Assumeing you have a standard configered grille replace with a directional grille on the outlet pointed towards the closet wall, this should get the air to do a general loop about the room. It is the cheepest solution that should improve the situation. For a few hundred bucks or less is worth a try.- engineroom

Is It Time to Reconsider Anti-Nuclear Laws?
Just because one can should one?? I don't mean the law by that statement. Swedish & New Zealand nuclear laws are reflecting strongly held opinions of the majority of the population in those counties - demoracy in action. Laws against N power, N waste & N weapons are never going to be bassed...- engineroom
