Undergrad Sample mean and sample covariance
Let xij be the ith independently drawn observation (i=1,...,N) on the jth random variable (j=1,...,K). These observations can be arranged into N column vectors, each with K entries, with the K ×1 column vector giving the ith observations of all variables being denoted xi (i=1,...,N). I have...- EnglsihLearner

Undergrad Is it possible one dimensional plane?
I have heard about two or above dimensional plane which we can express R2 or Rn. But I never heard about one-dimensional plane which we can express R. Is it possible one dimensional plane?- EnglsihLearner

Undergrad Linear Algebra: Understanding Matrix as a Linear Transformation
The matrix is an example of a Linear Transformation, because it takes one vector and turns it into another in a "linear" way. Hi could you explain it what exactly the bold part suggest? What is "another in a "linear" way"?- EnglsihLearner

Undergrad Difference between orthogonal transformation and linear transformation
Thanks. I will back again after reading linear algebra. I am working on a topic called ECG(Electrocardiogram). I must understand PCA(Principal Component Analysis) to grasp ECG.I hope with your help I will be able to understand PCA. Thanks again.- EnglsihLearner

Undergrad Difference between orthogonal transformation and linear transformation
Perhaps I studied Matrix if it is linear algebra. And I think I understand what is vector space. Vector space: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_space Is it sufficient? I got the definition of both terms by wikipedia. But I don't understand clearly.- EnglsihLearner

Undergrad Difference between orthogonal transformation and linear transformation
When I start to learner PCA. I find the term "orthogonal transformation" unfamiliar. I google to to find the solution and I get anther unfamiliar term called "linear transformation". So I am unfamiliar with both the terms. I think if Can know the difference between them then it would be very...- EnglsihLearner
