Solve the given equation that involves fractional indices

Exactly- some of us know, some of us don't know and some of us have a vague idea or feeling.

Solve the given equation that involves fractional indices

It's not really English it's Greek. So not every native English speaker knows this particular singular-plural couple. (And actually that is true for a number of scientific terms.) Oh, and while I am here, people have gone thoroughly through calculations of, I guess, some interest, but none of...

Thank you – actually when I recovered the picture from my albums I was slightly embarrassed to not remember who that was. Now you have stirred some memory and I think you are right about that.

Solving an absolute value quadratic inequality

Yes, I also did think of an application but do you think there will have been any benefit to have been doing exercises on it to no apparent purpose at the time two or more years previously? More motivating to do it when you need it, purpose and meaning then more evident.?

Solving an absolute value quadratic inequality

I came back to this thread because I have noticed recently several people making heavy weather of this same kind of problem with absolute values. but you have done exactly what I was going to say, plotted the function. Or just sketch them. To plot | f(x) | you just plot f(x) and then all that...

Ah well, maybe I can make up for it. Bath, bath, here is water flowing into the bath. After another thousand + years, others thought they could affirm their presence, beliefs... but still Oh, yes.

Uncovering Your Passion for Chemistry: What Drives You?

Upvoted because the same fact from the same book back then I think has stuck in my mind ever since.

    Today I Learned

This classical chocolate box design which scarcely changed in 90 years will be instantly recognised by everyone, in Britain at least. Today I learned that the man majorly responsible for it was known to me for something completely different – he was the novelist Nigel Balchin. I had not known...

The Scientist as Hero - or not

"Novels about scientists: Nigel Balchin, The Small Back Room, and the Black Magic Chocolate Box" This chocolate box will be instantly recognised by everybody in Britain of any age. In these days I was surprised to learn the identity of the man behind the design, someone with a reputation well...

Uncovering Your Passion for Chemistry: What Drives You?

Two reasons for being interested in chemistry. It is a part of nature, a very important part. The most important manifestation of it is called Life. Time to plug a little saying of mine of which I have never heard a refutation: most chemistry is biochemistry. In the sense of reactions and stuff...

    Equilibrium and indicator equation

The question should be in the homework section. I think it is a good question, deserving some attention by chemistry teachers. I think when I first met this subject at school I felt confused, the reason being what I saw as ambiguous expressions like "the equilibrium will move to the right" I was...

Chemistry Finding equilibrium expression for an equilibrium equation

I suggest you use square brackets in your above expressions to remind yourself that you are dealing with molarities.

Struggling to rearrange a formula to find c

Well if there is one thing I learned here it is respect for the writers of textbooks, their job is a difficult one. I don't think we should duplicate it much. rather our job is to clear up the misunderstandings and oversights, points missed that still emerge afterwards. Though go ahead anyone...

Struggling to rearrange a formula to find c

The problem seems to be he does not know or remember what a logarithm to a given base is, nor possibly what raising to a power is, what ##e## is, what ##ln## is, so you need to decide whether it is appropriate to for you to explain these things, or instead refer him to his old textbook.

    Medical Biochemistry (Nucleotide Polymerization)

Surely it is unreasonable to ask us to write out for you the formula for the reaction which you can't imagine but which must be in your textbook? To why life has evolved to make so much use of triphosphates (We can imagine using diphosphate mostly) I am not aware that we have at present an...
