Solving Projectile Motion: Ball Thrown from Building
After thinking real hard for almost 2 days. I know that my horizontal and vertical component has the same time is in flight. So I can use resolve my t initially in the horizontal component of the flight using Sx = Vicos30 t right. So wouldn't be t = Sx / Vi cos 30 Knowing my Sx is 80 and...- ezsmith

Solving Projectile Motion: Ball Thrown from Building
Oh, I think I figured it out So its, I use Vx = Vicos30° V = s/t V = 80 / t cos30° Then with this equation V = 80 / t Vicos30° I sub into my component y which is -35 = Vi sin30 t-4.9t^2 -35 = 80 sin30 t/ t cos30° - 4.9t^2 t = 4.07s Is it right?- ezsmith

Solving Projectile Motion: Ball Thrown from Building
Homework Statement This is a review question from the test I did few months back, and I need to review it for my finals. A ball is thrown from the top of a building 35m high with an initial speed of Vi at an angle 30° above the horizontal. The ball strikes the ground at a point 80m from...- ezsmith

High School Solving Inequalities: Tips & Tricks for Beginners
Hi, I used to do all this type of inequalities but I have not practice this for almost a year and I have totally forgotten and didn't know why did the sign change. For example: If it's 3x ≤ 9 The answer: x ≥ 3 Is this right? I have actually forgotten in what circumstances we are suppose...- ezsmith

Distance between the point and the plane
Homework Statement Determine the distance between the point (10,2,3) and the plane determined by the points A(2,3,0), B(3,1,4), and C(5,2,1). The Attempt at a Solution What I did was I took (B-A) and (C-B) and then I cross product (B-A) and (C-B) and I got -10i + 11j + 5k. After this step...- ezsmith

Shortest distance between lines and the lines
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the reply algebrat and ehild.. Its really helpful as I am pretty stuck earlier. Just to make sure whether I am on the right track. After doing cross product which is -22i-22j+11k. I found the magnitude of the cross product which is 33 and then I took the...- ezsmith

Shortest distance between lines and the lines
Homework Statement Find the shortest distance between the lines r = (0,7,6) + t (-3,2,2) and the line r = (-3,6,-4) + s (2,-5,6) The Attempt at a Solution What I did was I cross product s(2,-5,6) & t(-3,2,2) then I took (0,7,6) - (-3,6,-4) After getting both answer from the 2 steps I took...- ezsmith

Angle between line l and line m is 60degree
Yea finally I am able to solve it. I was having dilemma on the square root part but your advice had been really helpful. Thanks a lot HallsofIvy. Cheers  I got my answer a = \sqrt{30}. I accidentally put s(1,2,-1)xt(5,a,-5) when its suppose to be s(1,2,-1)xt(5,a,5) therefore its suppose...- ezsmith

Angle between line l and line m is 60degree
Homework Statement The line l has the equation r= s(1,2,-1) and the line m has the equation r= (0,1,1)+t(5,a,5). Find the value of a such that the angle between the line l and m is 60degree. The Attempt at a Solution What I did was use the equation s(1,2,-1)xt(5,a,-5) = \sqrt{1^2 + 2^2 +...- ezsmith
