How massive does a planet have to be to cut time in half?

It is a bit perplexing to me... I read most of the link... I'm not qualified in the equations anymore... Calculus 3 was a blur in college  however, From what I understand about SR is that time outside the spaceship (from the perspective of the person accelerating in the spaceship ) goes...

Does time dialation cause mass reduction in GR?

I just realized that I left out a notable part of my scenario. "In the scenario, I guess you could be in space with a telescope looking down on someone on a planet, bouncing a ball. Their time would be going slower with respect to your time. (For the sake of argument let's just say the...

How massive does a planet have to be to cut time in half?

Pervect: But from our perspective it does seem to stop for all practical purposes. I do see what you mean though.

Time dilation by homogeneous distribution of massive objects?

Yes. see forum thread ... https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=624220 You have to think of the masses as a whole. The time dilation is greatest at it's center.

How massive does a planet have to be to cut time in half?

Thank you all so much! Your answers are very enlightening! One more question...So is it at the Schwarzschild radius that time stops or the center?

Is time still affected (slowed down) at the center of the earth?

Fascinating! So, can I assume the time dilation is actually at it's greatest at the exact center of mass?

How massive does a planet have to be to cut time in half?

With respect to time in empty space, how massive does a planet have to be to affect the time to the point where the planet's time runs half the speed of empty space time?

Is time still affected (slowed down) at the center of the earth?

Assumptions: 1. Gravity at the center of the Earth is zero. 2. Time is slower on the surface of the Earth with respect to time in empty space (far away) Is time still affected (slowed down) at the center of the earth?

Does time dialation cause mass reduction in GR?

I think the equation E= γMc^2 can be used for both reference frames as far as velocity goes, however is it not just one way as far as gravitational time dilation goes?
