Gurdeep_SurfacePhys

Surface Science Expert focusing on the intersection of interfacial physics and precision metrology.

I lead research at Droplet Lab, where my work centers on the thermodynamics of liquid-solid interfaces. I specialize in the application of the Young-Laplace equation to determine surface tension.

Research Interests & Expertise:

  • Dynamic Wetting: Exploring contact angle hysteresis and the transition between Wenzel and Cassie-Baxter states.
  • Interfacial Rheology: Investigating the effects of surfactants on droplet stability and surface tension gradients (Marangoni Effect).
  • Instrument Development: Designing algorithms for sub-pixel edge detection in Pendant Drop and Sessile Drop goniometry.
I am committed to advancing reproducibility in surface characterization and often contribute to discussions regarding experimental design, fluid mechanics, and classical thermodynamics.
