Express x^2 - 10x in the form (x+p)^2 + q
Ok so I complete the square because I'm more comfortable with that: x^2 - 10x + 0 = 0 x^2 - 10x = 0 x^2 - 5^2 = 5^2 (x-5)^2 - 25 this would mean p = 5 and q = -25? This doesn't seem right? Have I gone wrong somewhere?- Haroldingo

Express x^2 - 10x in the form (x+p)^2 + q
Homework Statement Express x^2 - 10x in the form (x+p)^2 + q State the value of P and Q The Attempt at a Solution I don't know! I don't get it because when I times out the brackets p will always be a number, and there are no numbers that aren't multiplied by x in x squared minus 10...- Haroldingo

If everybody seems to know how to use wireless free electricity
Ok, I understand what you're all saying and it's definitely useful stuff... But wasn't the idea of a Tesla generator to gather energy from the elctro magnetic spectrum, no to transmit it to others? I'm talking about generators that require no fuel. Like how Tesla used to power his car through...- Haroldingo

If everybody seems to know how to use wireless free electricity
why does nobody do it on a large scale? There's countless videos on the net of people making 'tesla' machines out of simple components and doing things like, I don't know, charging their phone - without any cell. I would think it was codswallap if not for the fact that all the videos seem to...- Haroldingo

Is A-Level Physics Necessary for Engineering Programs?
True, but I could always drop As Physics OR maths, or one of my other two options. I think after this set of exams are over i might get some papers, learn a bit of theory and see how I do, then decide whether or not it would be beneficial for me to take the exams. Does that make sense?- Haroldingo

Is A-Level Physics Necessary for Engineering Programs?
Oh ok cool :) I researched a bit about and found some specimen papers, and to be honest it doesn't look that difficult - a lot of the stuff like scalar quantities and vector quantities, as well as calculating kinetic energy/GPE etc. I already know, and just from looking I can see there are a lot...- Haroldingo

Is A-Level Physics Necessary for Engineering Programs?
Now you're all mostly physics heads on this forum, so it's important to consider than I understand about 1/75th of what is said on this forum. I love physics, I find it fascinating - but I went to this consultation meeting thing and I was basically told that unless I'm a maths freak I'll...- Haroldingo

High School So I only recently discovered Nikola Tesla and the unfinished project
I know where you're coming from, and it has been suggested that because the project was scrapped by the fund supplier the mechanism was never properly utilized and remained largely int he mind of Telsa. I don't doubt that if he was certain it would work, then it would. The guy was arguably...- Haroldingo

High School So I only recently discovered Nikola Tesla and the unfinished project
So I only recently discovered Nikola Tesla and the unfinished project of Wardenclyffe - It's apparent purpose was not only to transfer electrical signals wirelessly, but also Tesla claimed it had the potential to supply limitless energy everywhere around the world? Is there any truth to...- Haroldingo

Homework Statement Sure I could do this by looking at the mark scheme, but i need to know HOW and WHY, so that in the future i can do these equations by myself. Thanks :) by elimenating y, solve the simeltaneous equation Homework Equations x^2 + y^2 = 10 y = 2x - 5 The Attempt...- Haroldingo
