Ok, now I understand that part (thanks btw)..But what about when people say the quarter wavelength transforms an open circuit to a short circuit and vise versa?
Can someone explain that?
What I don't understand, say you have an open circuit, a quarter wavelength transforms it into a short...
Reading up on quarter wave transmission lines and I'm confused about the actual length of the line.
Is a quarter wavelength line equal to the length of the incident and reflected wave?
Or is it only equal to the length of the incident wave?
I've been reading lately in particle accelerators and electrons and it got me wondering.
How do electrons induce resonance in a cavity resonator? Do they have to first be accelerated to one of the walls of the cavity where they then bounce off toward the other wall?
Just playing around with high voltage and noticed rf on my oscope while applying a high voltage to parallel plates... wondering what is causing it?
I know it's not just noise from a nearby source and know that it's coming from between the plates. ... also I noticed it's highest amplitude...
I have two parallel conductive plates.
The plates are charged to a high voltage by a HVDC power supply.
When the plates are charged rf energy is present between them.
What could be causing this?
I am thinking field emission at the cathode is causing it ,but not really understanding physics is...
Here's the schematic,
I just want to make sure I protect my circuit, scope, and laptop.
I'm not sure what the scope probe ground lead is grounded to since the computer operates on the battery when not plugged in. It's not like a typical mains grounded scope I presume...
Also, since the...
I am having a hard time understanding how to measure current safely in the following circuit.
The circuit consists of an isolated step up transformer. 50V 1kHz pulsed dc on the primary and 500V 1kHz pulsed dc on the secondary @ 10mA max. I am wanting to measure current on the secondary side of...
Hello everyone,
I need to find a way to measure and plot the impedance of a set of chokes across a frequency range of 10kHz. Any ideas how I can do that? I have a frequency generator, a variable power supply and an oscilloscope with a spectrum analyzer.
Hi everyone,
I keep trying to understand how impedance transformation works using a TLT but I'm stumped. There seems to be something I am just not understanding.
Can someone explain in different ways how a line that is a quarter wave long cause an open circuit to look like a dead short and...
One question though:
If I use two coils wound on the same core but with a space between them wouldn't the equivalent circuit be a ladder of lc filters with different capacitances?
Just my thinking but if you compare the same turn on each coil then the distance between turns would vary (if...
Thank you for the replies. I wish I had your knowledge. I might have had my circuit working months ago.
I read using a magnetic core increases the effective line length. When taking that into account the length can be reduced by a factor of 45 given the permeability is 2000. So I still...
I'm actually trying to design a tlt to use for low frequency range. I know. ... bad idea... the line will be very long with all kinds of problems etc.
I just want to see if it's possible. The initial problems i see with pulsing with low frequency are that the impedances in the circuit will be...
Thanks for the reply.
I am trying to make a 1/4 wave impedance transformer.
Just wondering how to go about doing it. And how to calculate things correctly.
