Finding total flight time of a projectile. Please help
I am really confused. I am starting to think there is an error in the answer manual. I have tried all motion equations possible. I assumed it reached peak and used vf=3m/s -- that didnt work. I tried vi=3m/-- that didnt work. I tried d= 1/2at^2 that didnt work either. Was my initial attempt at...- Ilovepysics

Finding total flight time of a projectile. Please help
TaxOnFear- I tried using vf^2 =vi^2 + 2ad to find vf. I got sqroot of 19 for vf and then plugged it into vf=vi+ at to solve for t I got t=.135 sec... still the wrong answer according to the answer manual.- Ilovepysics

Finding total flight time of a projectile. Please help
I also tried using d=vit + 1/2at^2 plugging in 3m/s for vi but I also calculated a wrong answer for t. So I am not sure what equation to use.- Ilovepysics

How Does Mass Affect the Acceleration and Distance Traveled by Falling Objects?
Thanks all! I worked it out using d= vit + 1/2 at^2. -Found time it took penny A to reach hit ground ~15 secs. -Time for penny B is 15 + 5 secs= 20s -Then using d= vit + 1/2 at^2 found how far penny B lands. 2000m. Can someone please verify if this is correct??- Ilovepysics

How Does Mass Affect the Acceleration and Distance Traveled by Falling Objects?
Thanks labguy! But how can I find how long it takes penny A to hit the ground if I don't have value for v? Can I use. d= vit + 1/2 at^2 and make vi=0?- Ilovepysics

How Does Mass Affect the Acceleration and Distance Traveled by Falling Objects?
@ Sandy.bridge - yes that is all the information given. So assuming air resistance is negligible the first penny has an accceleration of 9.81N/kg?? What about the second penny?>>> If a penny with mass 2.5g is dropped at this point how far does it travel before the first penny hits the ground?- Ilovepysics
