nice find! Glad it was wrong! By the way, how do you sketch those infinitesimal lightcones?- Imuck4u

How Do You Calculate and Sketch the Light Cone in a 2D Space-Time Geometry?
I saw it in the solutions manual. It might just be a typo but it got me really confused. By the way, thanks a lot!- Imuck4u

How Do You Calculate and Sketch the Light Cone in a 2D Space-Time Geometry?
So, dy=2dx/x, I integrate and get y=2 log(x)+c is that right?. I saw a solution to the problem given as dy/dx=0 and dy/dx=1/2x which I don't really get. Can someone explain?- Imuck4u

How Do You Calculate and Sketch the Light Cone in a 2D Space-Time Geometry?
Homework Statement We are given a 2 dimensional space time line element and we want to calculate the light cone at a point (x,y) Homework Equations ds^2=x(dy)^2-2(dy)(dx) The Attempt at a Solution For a light cone, ds^2=0 so x(dy)^2-2(dy)(dx)=0 now what?- Imuck4u
