Programs Is it true not all of us can get a math degree?
Yes I believe both of those. In fact, if you know anything about tennis you will know that this is absolutely true about Roger Federer. And from what I know about Newton is he devoted his entire life to his studies.- irises28

Programs Is it true not all of us can get a math degree?
Sure if you want to give such a superficial argument. What I am trying to say is that the only sort of talent you can argue is perhaps for a savant. But a savant can't put anything together. They can factor primes or something but they can't publish a paper on general relativity. The point...- irises28

Programs Is it true not all of us can get a math degree?
I am basing these claims off past successful people and things that I have seen in my life. I am sure it would be nice for people to think that they are more naturally talented than some other people because it gives them a pedestal to look down on other people. And, like I said before...- irises28

Programs Is it true not all of us can get a math degree?
There is no such thing as a natural genius or natural talent. These are terms used only as excuses by people who are lazy as a reason to why they don't do something. So if you want to do math you can do math. If you want to be the next Einstein you can be. Your "natural ability" isn't going...- irises28

Programming Advice for Physics BSc Student
I started by learning java in school. It seems to be the popular choice in programming languages for schools. Recently I have begun programming in python, and it is so amazing. Python is such a great language I can hardly describe it. It makes everything so simple so that you can focus on...- irises28

Sabbotaging the Quick Pace of Work
Please don't do this. There are enough annoying people in the world pretending to be smarter than they actually are. Be humble but don't doubt yourself.- irises28

Becoming a Mathematcian with a disability?
I didn't mean, try hard and pretend like the disability doesn't exist. I meant, try doing it with acknowledgment of the disability with whatever extra things you might need. Like modified tests/exercises as stated above. Colleges have a special needs thing where people can get the help they...- irises28

Becoming a Mathematcian with a disability?
^ Its not so much that I think the psychologist is wrong, I am kind of with hurkyl. However, I think the psychologist saying you may function well in higher level math should have NO weight in you decision to do math. Just the same as ability to do arithmetic should have little to no weight in...- irises28

Becoming a Mathematcian with a disability?
Mathematics... real math has almost nothing to do with numbers at all. Most people think math is all about numbers because you start off learning numbery things and not many people pursue it further. But once you get into real math you will realize its completely different than being good at...- irises28

Long term drawbacks to undergrad research?
Another problem is that everything will become increasingly more political. It will all be about knowing people. I don't think there is much you can do about that though, I think there are some permanent flaws that can't ever be fixed. Obviously the pros will outweigh the cons considering its...- irises28

I am confused... Is it not extremely common to take more than 1 math course per semester? Are we only thinking this may be difficult because its a summer session?- irises28
