Undergrad Angular acceleration of a planet
What if it was a ball attached to a string? How would that be different from a binary planet-star system?- itachipower

Undergrad Angular acceleration of a planet
So my teacher said that an object farther from the center experiences greater centripetal acceleration. How is that possible? let's say we have a sun + planet system. F = GmM/r^2 so when the planet's r is greater, wouldn't the force become lower compared to the planet being closer to the sun?- itachipower

High School Potential energy and kinetic energy
So today in class we were talking about gravity and my professor said that generally KE = -.5PE And so TME = .5PE I don't understand how that works.- itachipower

How many columns are needed to support the roof of an underground tunnel?
Homework Statement A tunnel of length L = 151 m, height H = 7.7 m high, and width 6.2 m (with a flat roof) is to be constructed at distance d = 60 m beneath the ground. The tunnel roof is to be supported entirely by square steel columns, each with a cross-sectional area of 960 cm2. The mass of...- itachipower

What Causes Incorrect Section Placement in Static Equilibrium and Torque?
Homework Statement I have been trying to solve this problem for a while now and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong... Here is the problem: In the figure below, a horizontal scaffold, of length 2.00 m and uniform mass 50.0 kg, is suspended from a building by two cables. The...- itachipower
