    Career with travel opportunities

Hey all. I have traveled a good bit already, and I have lived in germany for a year. I usually go on one big camping trip with my friends each summer, and we spend a lot of time outdoors and hiking, camping etc... I agree that there is a big dilemma between family life and traveling. That is...

    Career with travel opportunities

Hey all, I am graduting this coming year with my B.S. in Physics, and I am struggling with what to do for my career. I really feel like I want to further my education and go for my PhD. As with most people my age however, I am still uncertain as to which path I want to go in life. I am hoping...

Schools What Increases Your Chances of Grad School Admission?

If you are applying to a physics graduate program, it is going to be physicists looking at your application. Everyone I talk to says about the same few things: Research/Recommendations. They want to know you are going to be good at doing research, simple as that. GRE scores are also very...

    REU(Research Experiences for Undergraduates).

I think REU's are a very good way to get an in with graduate programs. I understand a lot of schools use REU's as an advertising devise. -Jason

    REU(Research Experiences for Undergraduates).

Hey, I think you will have a hard time getting into any REU programs as a Freshman. I did one last summer at OU (summer after my soph. year), and I was lucky to get in as a soph. even. Most schools like to grab folks about to start their senior year. I don't believe most places are going to...

Greatest Frontman: Axl Rose or Someone Else?

Did anyone ever get a chance to hear Sandy Denny when she was with Fairport Convention live? I would have liked to see Grace with The Great Society. I like the songs that came out of there a lot more than the Jefferson Airplane songs. I would have really liked to see the band "Love" perform...

Programs Majoring in Physics with a Minor in Computer Science: Maximizing Your Degree

You won't lose any classes. Like you thought, you will just have to take a few more hours before completing. I think a minor is typically around 17 hours or so, so you'll have to take that many hours of CS courses. -Jason

Schools Making Grad School Decisions in Physics

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I realize the quantum computing research is in the very early on stages (there was some going on in OU when i was there this summer), but I thought id just see what everyone knew of it anyhow. I wouldn't say I have 100% ruled out Astro, but as far as I can...

Schools Making Grad School Decisions in Physics

Hey atrec, I'm sorry, I read your post several times, and I just can't understand what you are trying to say. If you are speaking of Trinity Univ. in San Antonio, then I know of it, but do not know anyone that goes there. -Jason

Ever feel like you don't know what you're doing in life ?

I think most people have this point in their life where the wonder...what am I supposed to do? I am there right now, just as you seem to be. Although I can't help your situation too much, I thought I might be able to at least reassure you some and say a little about physics. I think most people...

Schools Making Grad School Decisions in Physics

I am getting near the end of my undergrad career, and slowly I am becoming more and more stressed about grad school. Here is what I know: I want to get my PhD in Physics, and work at a University afterwards. I am equally excited about doing research as well as teaching. I did a summer...

How do these straight line lasers work?

Well that makes perfect sense..though I really could have sworn they had it placed on the same wall it was going around, in the commercial. Maybe they really didn't have it attached and the guy was just holding it, to kind of trick the audience...though I don't see why they would do that...
