High School What Formula Determines the Squares Producing a Specific Difference?
Hello, Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure so I just picked General. Is there a formula to determine the squares that will produce a given difference. For example x^2 - y^2 = 21. From a little experimentation it seems that for odd numbers the problem can be solved with this...- jimjones

Misc. Trouble with DIY Quantum Eraser Experiment?
Hello, I am trying to perform the DIY quantum eraser experiment, but I'm having some trouble. When I perform the classic double slit experiment using a cheap laser pointer and a piece of wire I get a beautiful interference pattern as expected. However when I try the DIY QE experiment I...- jimjones

Graduate Do many photons interfere with them selves or each other?
Hello, If a beam of light is used in the double slit experiment instead of individual photons does each photon interfere only with itself in superposition or do the different photons interfere with each other? If detectors are used will the interference pattern still disappear? Thanks- jimjones

Graduate Rearranging the doulbe slit experiement?
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to rearrange the components of the double slit experiment so that the particle detectors are placed behind the detection screen? The screen would have to have holes to allow the particles to pass to the detectors when they are activated. Those...- jimjones

Graduate Home Quantum Physics Experiments
Yes, this is the kind of thing I was hoping for, thank you. I would really like to build a Mach–Zehnder interferometer, but I understand that it requires very precise alignment. I assume the photon detector would be very expensive. I have a background in electronics, is it possible to build a...- jimjones

Graduate Home Quantum Physics Experiments
Hello, Does anyone know of any quantum physics experiments that can be preformed at home. All of the experiments I've read about seem to require expensive equipment and precise alignment. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.- jimjones
