Is this a complete undergrad pure math curriculum?

To be fair, I'm pretty sure in most places in Europe students take an extra year in high school, while their university degrees are usually 3 years long (13 years of primary and secondary school + 3 years of university, compared to 12 years + 4 years of university in North America). So in a way...

Is going to lecture a huge waste of time?

I don't understand the need for comments like these. If the OP is getting more bang for his or her buck by watching video lectures rather than attending in person, what's the big deal? Would it bother you if some of your students found ways to be successful other than attending your lectures?

Engineering From UK finishing my PhD in Chemical Engineering, want to move to USA

I don't much about research jobs, but businesses are definitely hiring lots of engineers here in Alberta. One thing I can say is while I was applying for summer jobs in the oil and gas industry I came across plenty of postings requiring masters and PhD. With your petrochemical production...

Using an instructor's solutions manual considered cheating?

I would laugh if a school today ever used this motivation to ban solution manuals, especially when considering some of the outrageous prices for the mandatory textbooks (even when many of these end up being useless) or the deals they reach with publishing companies that pretty much force us to...

Can Engineering Students at Waterloo Take Electives?

If you're referring to electives outside of engineering, then I'm pretty sure you'll have a few ones. All engineering programs in Canada require a certain set and type of "complimentary studies" (CS) options outside of engineering. They're typically not completely free electives though, and...

Comp Sci Can someone look over my C++ code - Simple short code

Some errors I've noticed: - To call the iostream library, you should use <iostream> - Many of the lines are missing a colon at the end and some have a comma instead - You've messed up some of the operators. Remember, it's count << and cin >> - Some of the lines are meaningless, like "sp...

    Elastic and inelastic collision problems

Another way to look at this is to see that those equations can be derived from the coefficient of restitution formula: e = \frac{v^{'}_{2} - v^{'}_{1}}{v_{1} - v_{2}} Where e = 1 in an elastic collision, and e = 0 in a perfectly inelastic collision. All other inelastic collisions range in between.

    Acceleration and velocity question-easy-

You should probably show how you solved for time, because you clearly made an error at some point.

What is the route to becoming a doctor or a physician in US/Canada?

I'm pretty sure the other poster meant semester courses, not actual entire semesters. But the requirements certainly vary from school to school. In fact, my school's program doesn't require any subjects, though it recommends helpful subjects without taking them into consideration for...

Schools Why isn't calculus taught in high school?

Eh, I'm pretty sure in most cases calculus teachers are math teachers that just happen to teach a calculus class. At least that's how it was for my school. I guess a problem would be that schools might have to hire more math teachers, which would be unfeasible for many school districts that...

Schools Why isn't calculus taught in high school?

Tunnel vision? For most programs in college or university, math is certainly not a requirement, let alone calculus. Plus, not everyone goes to college after high school. I don't understand why you'd want to force all high school students to take an additional math class when only a tiny percent...

    Bad At Drawing,Mechanical Engineering?

I have to say, that's one of the most pointless tests I've ever seen IMO. Since you can't see it, smashbrohamme, this is one of the questions: "A cube of sides 40mm is resting on HP with its base on HP such that one of its vertical faces is inclined at 30 degrees to the VP. It is cut by a...

Engineering Degree for Robotics, AI, Supercomputers, & More

The Cool Toys Degree! In all seriousness though, if you're interested in engineering my advice would be to find out what different programs you're more inclined to by finding out what topics are covered, what you might learn, and what are the different things people with that degree end up...

Expert Tips for Mastering Engineering Statics | Fall 2020

You would have to have some terrible luck (or more likely you did something wrong) if you ever happen to encounter an system of 6 equations with 6 unknowns in each equation. What will usually happen when you're dealing with a 3D system is that you'll have up to 6 equations to play around with...
