Thermodynamics: Waste heat and total ice converted to steam
So, for the first part I take the "Q" I calculated and subtract the energy converted to energy which is 600MW (which is 600*10^6J) and I should be left with the thermal energy exhausted? And I use this for the q in the second part? Ah, I see where I switched Lvap. And I see why my Lvap is too...- jolierouge

Thermodynamics: Waste heat and total ice converted to steam
Homework Statement A coal-fired plant generates 600 MW of electric power. The plant uses 4:8106 kg of coal each day. The heat produced by the combustion of coal is 3:3107 J/kg. The steam that drives the turbines is at a temperature of 300C, and the exhaust water is at 37C. (a) How much...- jolierouge

Finding Applied Force with Free Body Diagrams (Grade 12 Physics)
I would suppose the force isn't being applied anymore. Huh never even thought of that. Is there a way to find out the applied force on the object when it was first thrown? If the force is being applied anymore that would make Fnet=Fapp-Fg=-98.1N. Right? Making acceleration -9.81m/s/s, but that...- jolierouge

Finding Applied Force with Free Body Diagrams (Grade 12 Physics)
Homework Statement You have a 10kg object that is thrown down a building. The distance from the ground to the building is 50m. The initial velocity of the object is 5 m/s. What is the applied force and what force does the object hit the ground with? Homework Equations Fapp= Fnet+Fg...- jolierouge
