From the equation y(t)=0 you obtain the time needed by the projectile to land, call this time for example t_\ell. Then because x(t_\ell)=R then from the equation R=V(i)t_\ell you can find V(i).- joseirs

How can I get the sum inside the exponential?
You have: \frac{e^{2nx}-1}{e^{2x}-1}=\frac{e^{nx}}{e^{x}}\;\frac{e^{nx}-e^{-nx}}{e^x-e^{-x}} and the result follows simplifying the first factor in the right had side of the equality.- joseirs
