How can I simulate a 3D space pursuit between two spaceships with laser weapons?
No worries...my division by 3 is bullsh*t  basically...I moved the Cat's z-position if the difference in z coordinates of the cat and mouse was greater than equal to a third of the distance in which the bomb can hit. Just something to move the z to a better position...hopefully...- jst

How can I simulate a 3D space pursuit between two spaceships with laser weapons?
Hey, thanks a lot for the info. However, the assignment was due (and turned in yesterday) Anyway, I think I did okay, but I was fortunate enough to get a couple of responses from my Professor (wasn't expecting that  ) When I asked him a very close to the way I posted the...- jst

How can I simulate a 3D space pursuit between two spaceships with laser weapons?
"3D Space Pursuit Problem" Homework Statement This is actually a programming assignment, more than a physics problem. However the issue I'm having is more with the math/physics than with the programming. Anyway here it goes: Write a simulation program and test it for a three...- jst

Radial visualization & spring forces
Hi, I am taking a Data Mining course and have this problem in radial visualization. To complete this problem, we use some physics formulas, which I really do not understand. Derive formulas for radial visualization of: a. 3-dimensional samples b. 8-dimensional samples Homework Equations...- jst

Understanding Light and Lens Problems in Physics
I think a "general problem solving strategy" would do it...a lot of these problems seem similar. If you understand these problems, anything you think that would be helpful would be really cool.- jst

Understanding Light and Lens Problems in Physics
Damn light & lens problems :( The problems come from a homework that I've already submitted. I got some right and some wrong, but the ones that I did correctly I'm not too confident in method (which including guessing at times). There's really not really a lot of calculations involved in...- jst

Tripling the Distance between Bright Fringes
I have one more similar problem: A board has two small slits separated by a small distance d. A light ray of a certain wavelength is shone through the holes. A screen is placed in front of the holes and bright fringes are displayed on it. If the light wavelength is 656 nm, the distance...- jst

Tripling the Distance between Bright Fringes
:D I didn't see that..thanks! On the second problem, I'm thinking: "triple the distance between the slits" My reason is: m*LAMBDA = d * y/L m*LAMBDA = d * 3y/L y = (1/3) * (LAMBDA * m * L)/d on the right track?- jst
