Is the universe examining itself?
This is exactly what I mean as well. If we say we are the universe we are equivocating ourselves with something that is greater than ourselves. Each of us has his/her own subjective experiences within our lives. The prefix "Uni" signifies oneness, a certain unity throughout the universe... -

Is the universe examining itself?
How are we made up of the universe? Is the universe not made up of life, planets, galaxies, etc? I need clarification on this one before I can comment further. -

Was religion ever meant to give absolute truth?
I have to disagree on this one. Yes, you are correct that pain is a subjective experience, but not all truths can be subjective. Take a look at a self evident truth: "I exist." That is an absolute truth that MUST be universal, because if I did not exist, I would not be able to be typing this...- Justinius

Is the western civilization rich?
Money can provide happiness to a certain degree. We need other things in our lives besides material wealth to be happy, though, as mentioned here: Love and friendship are two things that make us the most happy. This is because we are able to provide generously for our lover or our friend...- Justinius

Abortion: The Necessity for Victims of Rape and Incest
Pocebokli: THANK YOU for your satire, you beat me to it. You are absolutely right on this one. We cannot tap into the mind of the rapist, nor that of the victim, or child as a result of the victim's victimization. However, studies have shown that a) rape causes incredible emotional and...- Justinius

Abortion: The Necessity for Victims of Rape and Incest
How can you just assume this? What if in a rape situation the rapist was drunk? What if the rapist is already a parent? Just because the person commits an evil act, it does not make them evil. Please support your claims, you cannot just make assumptions like the above.- Justinius

Abortion: The Necessity for Victims of Rape and Incest
Rape and incest are two of the most heinous crimes known to humanity. To augment the brutality of rape with the brutality of forcing a victim to have a child as a result of this rape would be a constant memory of such a psychologically traumatizing event and be tantamount to torture for the...- Justinius

What is the definition of agreement and what are its limitations?
I agree... We become slaves to everything when we limit our freedom of everything. Literally, a slave is not free, i.e. the blacks in the south United States. However, we do not examine the freedoms we take away from ourselves thus making ourselves slaves. For example, we are free to...- Justinius

What are the philosophical viewpoints of "Need" ?
Definitely not the same thing A need is a natural desire. Our needs are what keep us alive by our nature. Needs are things such as food and water, which we need for sustinence and ultimately survival. By nature, we need to be social beings, otherwise we slip off the path of reality and go...- Justinius

Is Superior Violence Necessary for Civil Society to Exist?
Sometimes War is right in some cases. It was said above that he only good war is a war of defence. It makes sense. For example, on a family scale: Hypothetically, a burglar breaks into my house and begins to sexually assault my wife. I am not going to just stand there and tell him "go...- Justinius

Do some animals have more soul than others?
Wouldn't giving an animal a soul put it on the same level as a human being in essence? This is impossible because we know humans are on a higher life form than animals.- Justinius

Art How do people digest modern art?
There is a certain objective beauty to art, just as there is to cars, even people. However, the aesthetic beauty of art isn't all objective. The taste of people also comes into play. As Kerrie said, what one person likes may not tickle another's fancy. But there must be SOME beauty to all...- Justinius
