Common miscons (e.g. it exploded from a singularity) &why to check FAQ

If the universe started out, or was ever at a finite size, then it must be of a finite size forever, yes?

Undergrad Radio Transmission Power and Detection in Relation to Alien Communication

It is extremely unlikely that there will ever be valid communication between two very- distant-from-each-other locations in our galaxy, at least in our civilization's time frame. Perhaps fun to dream about, but taking place, NO. Yes, IMHO.

Graduate Is it possible that speed of a gravitational waves are greater than c?

"So if I tug on a string of space-time, it's not individual atoms moving, it's a continuous string so as I pull on my end, the other end moves simultaneously." Can't be simultaneous across our universe! The 'ends' are in question also.

Undergrad Are there any theories that explain where matter and energy came from?

"Like has anyone ever said a reason to how matter and energy came into existence?" If I recall correctly, Hawking says due to a Quantum Fluctuation. Others have said that 'this' is just a perturbation about zero.

Graduate What Is the Physical Reality of Space?

"often it is suggested that spacetime might have a discrete or foamy structure at Planck length scale." Space may well have components, yes?

Graduate What Is the Physical Reality of Space?

And since "cosmologists deny any existence of anything including an empty vacuum prior to the Big Bang." it sure seems convincing that space is far from being nothing.

Graduate What Is the Physical Reality of Space?

For space to expand is it just able to 'stretch' to a larger size or must newly created space units be added?

Graduate Is the Big Bang Expanding into a Preexisting Void?

And it still may safely be assumed that no information could 'pass' through the Big Bang event. i.e. No matter formation 'instructions' at any scale level, or anything else. Everything that took place after has just been random chance out of perhaps a near infinite range of possibilities?

Graduate Why is the speed of light in a vacuum ~299,793 km/s?

All of this c talk is very interesting. The speed of light sure is very slow considering the probable vast size of our total universe! i.e. At a snail's pace at best but, that's what we have.

Undergrad Are We in the Middle of the Universe?

In a Synchrotron particles, that are each traveling at near the speed of light, are at times traveling towards each other and away from each other at a differential velocity much greater than C. This can't be taking place?

Graduate Could Black Hole Matter Challenge Our Understanding of the Universe?

Is there actually EVER an escape velocity for a black hole? i.e. Curved space, won't matter how fast.

Graduate What Is Beyond The Observable Universe?

But NOT any Mass that may be near the 'edge', that can NOT be traveling away from us that fast?

Undergrad Are We in the Middle of the Universe?

Is it theoretically 'allowed' for Mass A and Mass B to have a closing speed that is greater than C? e.g. Mass A is headed towards Mass B with its 'real' speed greater than .5 C, and Mass B is headed towards Mass A with its 'real' speed greater than .5 C. Likewise for them to have a separating...

Graduate Is the universe accelerating it's expansion?

"One would hope another big bang but that's well beyond anything I've read about." Why should/would we care if there would be another Big Bang? You could participate perhaps?

Graduate Did inflation itself make the universe bigger than what we currently observe

"It suddenly went from being smaller than a neutron to what size? Grapefruit size?" You could really get jumped on here by implying that it has been commonly assumed that this Universe started out being smaller than a neutron! i.e. Big Bang time.
