Graduate Measurement Problem & Objectivity
Well that is upsetting news that people have died in your country Bill. I feel for them and their families. We went through a severe flu episode a few years ago here in Toronto, Canada. I am sorry if it has affected you or your family in any way. I am sure your country has military out posts in...- kindaroomy

Graduate Measurement Problem & Objectivity
Thanks Bill for all this time you given my question. It has really let my creativity wander. Excuse the next part as I am a little punchy from a long tiring day. I wondered about decoherence in the car on the way home. I’ve loosely aware of it… from what I gather it’s how a quantum system looses...- kindaroomy

Graduate Measurement Problem & Objectivity
I thought that measurement is what made the Double-Slit experiment so paradoxical / interesting? Excuse my naiveté, but is this not the case anymore?- kindaroomy

Graduate Measurement Problem & Objectivity
Thanks Bill, I didn't quite understand your first comment... did you mean that quantum effects are for a quantum world? and not necessarily valid in a conventional macro-existence? thanks CJ- kindaroomy

Graduate Measurement Problem & Objectivity
I have never been to the pyramids in Egypt. I'd love to go one day. I am sure their configuration will be just as others have seen, and as the visitor map describes. Why is it that my experience will correspond exactly with others' experience if I am collapsing quantum potential with respect to...- kindaroomy

Undergrad Send Radio Signals to Other Stars: Accounting for Arrival
I was reading up on the first organized message sent into space, the Arecibo Message. It was sent to Messier 13 some 26,000 ly away. I am guessing under this scenario you'd have to account for movement, as the stars can orbit around the galaxy quite a bit in 26,000 years. Or would this message...- kindaroomy

Undergrad Send Radio Signals to Other Stars: Accounting for Arrival
If I wanted to send a radio signal to another star, shouldn’t I have to account for where the star will be when the message arrives?- kindaroomy

Graduate Neutron Star vs Earth - Effects of a Collision
Berkeman, How I wish I could animate this scene... but unfortunately I seem to be missing the basic fundmentals on how a scenario like this would play out in the first place. Let's see what some other comments might reveal. CJ- kindaroomy

Graduate Neutron Star vs Earth - Effects of a Collision
Thank you Mu Naught, I very interested in your feedback for this scenario. I am trying to create an accurate depiction of what would happen to Earth as a Neutron Star came near. Please have a look at my initial drawings earlier in this thread to see if any aspects are closer to what you...- kindaroomy

Graduate Neutron Star vs Earth - Effects of a Collision
Thanks nismaratwork, Yes I believe I can picture what you mean. I will try it out and post a new image soon. Thanks again for helping me on this, your comments are appreciated. CJ- kindaroomy

Graduate Neutron Star vs Earth - Effects of a Collision
So with reference to my artwork, to be more accurate the accretion disc would be flopping around as like a unbalanced gyroscope possibly tearing material of the planet in a wavy sort of motion. Am I describing the effect on the in falling material properly?- kindaroomy

Would the jets of a Neutron Star always be a right angles with the accretion disk?- kindaroomy

Graduate Neutron Star vs Earth - Effects of a Collision
I wonder if Earth's poles would align with the star, ie. pointing at the accretion disk? Is this feasible? or is Earth's magnetic field not an issue in this scenario?- kindaroomy
