Solving Equations: Finding k and a with t=2π√(m/k) and s=ut+½at²
Mass=6g Spring’s constant is 141 (to 3sf) ‘g’=9.81 Max GPE= mgh Max GPE= ½kx2 If I need to work out 'x' with the data given, how do I go about it?- Large dwarf

Solving Equations: Finding k and a with t=2π√(m/k) and s=ut+½at²
Admittedly no, but a quick look on Wiki told me all I needed to know, cheers again. I think I've found the strain energy using E=1/2kx^2 now, so that's 2 things done. If I did (2πx)/t would I find the velocity or have I gone down completely the wrong route. I'm not very confident in my...- Large dwarf

Solving Equations: Finding k and a with t=2π√(m/k) and s=ut+½at²
I'm back already for an open appeal. Using knowledge of 'g' as 9.81 and the spring constant 'k' as 141 (I'll go back to showing these later, can't be arsed to figure the error out yet), I need to find out as much as possible out about bouncing 'bod' (one of those toys which you push down and a...- Large dwarf

Solving Equations: Finding k and a with t=2π√(m/k) and s=ut+½at²
Thanks, I've inputted the data countless times but it continues to equal the wrong number, I might try using Excel instead to calculate. I know it's not unequivocally a straight line, but the points do form a decent linear line, but you're right, I forgot to divide by two. Thanks for the...- Large dwarf

Solving Equations: Finding k and a with t=2π√(m/k) and s=ut+½at²
Homework Statement t=2π (square root m/k). Find the value of 'k'. 2. The attempt at a solution t2= 4π^2m/k k=4π^2m/ t^2 When data is inputted, 'k' should equal 141, but when I do it, the number varies and is significantly greater than 141, but starts with those 3 figures...- Large dwarf

Information/calculations about radars
For a presentation to an AS-Level class, can anyone give me some decent information/calculations about radars. Any good sites for info will also be appreciated.- Large dwarf

How Do You Isolate 'g' in the Equation s=ut+1/2at^2?
As part of our data analysis, we need to find 'g' through a calculation and then back it up with graphical representation. Since I have 'u', 's' and 't', the choice of equation is rather simple: s=ut+1/2at^2. Then this needs to be converted so y=mx, it's by no means necessary, but I want to do...- Large dwarf

How is information transmitted using baseband and modulated transmission?
Yeah that was correct, never thought about using that particular power equation, just thought about circuitary components! We're now on to transmission systems. These are our questions: 12 In this question, you are asked to choose and discuss a practical example of a transmission system...- Large dwarf

How is information transmitted using baseband and modulated transmission?
P=Vsquared/R, so R=Vsquared/P. R=2.88 Ohms. What purpose does working out the resistance of the volume of the reflecting alloy have when I am trying to work out the thickness? I don't understand why the dimensions are given as I haven't learned to use dimensions with conductance and...- Large dwarf

How is information transmitted using baseband and modulated transmission?
Firstly, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what 8 binary levels are. The question is 'State the number of bits per sample needed to code for the 8 binary levels' I thought that this would just be 8 bits as that covers 256 choices, but I doubt it's that simple. Secondly, you have a...- Large dwarf

Bulletproof Glass: Physics & Properties
Wasn't too sure where to put this as it is not actually homework. Anyway, I've been called upon to do a presentation on a material for prospective Physics students. I was going to do ferrofluids as they look extremely cool, but they want a material with a proper use, therefore I have chosen to...- Large dwarf

Why Does Segmenting Thermistor Data Create a Linear Relationship?
Seems so obvious now you've mentioned it, can't believe I missed it out. It makes relatively little difference in the actual conductance model, though of course, it adds a little more substance science wise. Cheers. Thanks for the other points too, the reading up on Maths bit, it's something...- Large dwarf

Why Does Segmenting Thermistor Data Create a Linear Relationship?
Everything bar Steinhart I have included it appears (never thought to check Wiki admittedly). However, Steinhart is already out of the question as I don't know the specifications of the thermistor required (as it was an old one not found in the catalogue). My solution would be to find the...- Large dwarf

Why Does Segmenting Thermistor Data Create a Linear Relationship?
Apologies for not using the provided template, the help I require is not spoon-fed, more a method of directing me in the right direction hopefully. For my Physics coursework, I chose the rather simplistic thermistor experiment rather than being bold and going for a slightly more adventurous...- Large dwarf
