Graduate Differential Equations Help, non-linear first order with substitution
(r^2) (dT/dr)+B*r*T=T^2, with initial condition dT/dr |r=0 =0 where B is a constant I've gotten it to this: dT/dr = -BT/r + T2 / r2 by dividing everything by r2, then I substitute using λ= T/r which gives: r * dλ/dr + lambda = -B * (λ) + λ^2 I don't know how to separate...- leomclaughlin

How Do Stiffener Beads Enhance Metal Link Rigidity?
well could you be more specific regarding the material shown in the image? Also about which axes does this stiffener bead stiffen/weaken?- leomclaughlin

How Do Stiffener Beads Enhance Metal Link Rigidity?
Attached is a picture of a stiffener bead on a metal link, my question is how does this shape help stiffen the part? Why is this superior to simply having a flat metal link?- leomclaughlin

Statics Problem, two disks in equilibrium
So is it impossible to answer because I was not given a rest length of the cord? Everyone is mentioning variable without a whole lot of focus on the problem at hand. The only horizontal force is that which the left disk provides, so the cosine of the string theta multiplied by k and stretched...- leomclaughlin

Statics Problem, two disks in equilibrium
i was attempting to find the tension in the cord by splitting it into its x and y components, from there I could solve for length and theta, or take the x and y components and use Pythagoreans theorem to get the hypotenuse?- leomclaughlin

Statics Problem, two disks in equilibrium
well i was wrong, if i divide the equations by each other to get tan(theta)=.6, solving for theta gives me 30.96, which ironically is the lower left angle of the triangle, and its incorrect. Now I'm not sure where to go from here- leomclaughlin

Statics Problem, two disks in equilibrium
Homework Statement http://imgur.com/yVOXkAT The two disks each have a mass of 18kg and are attached at their centers by an elastic cord that has a stiffness of k = 1.6kN/m . Determine the stretch of the cord when the system is in equilibrium and the angle θ of the cord. (Figure 1)...- leomclaughlin

Graduate Specific question about infinite size and age of the universe
I would have to agree that the answer is in fact A. I believe A is true because the concepts of space and time of our understanding of nature comes from the fact that they only exist if they they are finite quantities. These finite quantities are what gives special relativity its backing, in...- leomclaughlin
