Range of a thermometer - and bulb size
But wouldn't the temperature change occur only at the bulb? Assuming that the thermometer is used correctly? So the volume changes first in the bulb then gets propagated through the rest of the liquid right?- lin_howt

Range of a thermometer - and bulb size
Sensitivity vs Range Hi! I guess what you have mentioned here is that the range is dependent on how much liquid you have and far you allow that liquid to expand within your thermometer. As for the part about how the liquid would expand more now at 100 degrees than before, that would be termed...- lin_howt

Free Body Diagram Q&A: Atmospheric Pressure?
Most textbooks do not include the atmospheric pressure without stating why. Anyway, given the size of the atomospheric pressure, even a small surface area would translate to a sizeable amount of force acting down on the book. If my objective is to include all the forces acting on the book...- lin_howt

Free Body Diagram Q&A: Atmospheric Pressure?
Hi! Was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to whether the atmospheric pressure is to be considered when drawing the free body diagram of a book resting on a table? In addition to the normal force and the weight, does atmospheric pressure need to be included?- lin_howt
