No, I mean the persons in charge of day to day operation of particle accelerators. They usually work in shifts. For example see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerator_operator . In particular I am wondering what an operator makes at a lab like fermilab or brookhaven.

Does anyone know what kind of salary an accelerator operator makes when starting out? Thanks
