Undergrad What Is Dark Matter and How Do We Know It Exists?
So that cloud is just hot gas? Isn't it something like a MACHO? My teacher told me that that picture wasn't hot gas, but something else and I'm trying to find out what. Well then, can someone explain what a MACHO or a WIMP is anyway without using much astronomical terms? -

Undergrad What Is Dark Matter and How Do We Know It Exists?
There is a picture on this site that I don't understand. http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr162/lect/cosmology/darkmatter.html It is used as evidence that dark matter exists, but what is it? Is it a MACHO, a WIMP or something else? Can someone also explain what a MACHO or a WIMP is without... -

Undergrad Who was the first one to say universe is expanding?
Yep, right to the point you can actually say that's true. -

Undergrad Einstein's Universe: How Relativity Shaped His Understanding
Then how and why did Einstein come up with his model of the universe? -

Undergrad Einstein's Universe: How Relativity Shaped His Understanding
Well, Einstein came up with the theory of Relativity, but how does the theory relate to the universe? What is link? How does it explain the universe? If I'm still not making any sense, just say it and I'll try to explain myself again. Btw, that was actually a question my teacher asked... -

How was Einsteins understanding of the universe formed by his theory of relativity? -

Undergrad Why does redshift indicate that space-time is expanding
Why do you have to observe these things in order to explain that redshift is not from expanding space-time but from galaxy's flying away from each other? Or do I need heavy phisics to understand (I'm not a physisist or stronomer so)? I'm trying to understand what made people (Hubble) back... -

Undergrad Why does redshift indicate that space-time is expanding
How come? Maybe this is something we know now but when Hubble presented his observations of redshift people did not know. (I think) -

Undergrad Why does redshift indicate that space-time is expanding
Since nobody answered my last question I''l try it this way: Why does redshift indicate that space-time is expanding and not that galaxy's are just flying away from each other? -

Undergrad Who was the first one to say universe is expanding?
Weren't Einstein's equations before 1948? -

Undergrad Who was the first one to say universe is expanding?
But he was actually the first one to do that using the Hubble Law? I'm also measuring the age by using redshift, H etc., that's why I want to know... -

Undergrad Redshift: expanding space-time or galaxy moving away form each other?
I know that Hubble observed redshift which led to the conclusion that space was expanding. But why did redshift lead to such conclusion? Why didn't they just think that galaxy were "flying" away from each other instead of thinking that it was the space that was actually expanding? What made... -

Undergrad Who was the first one to say universe is expanding?
Was Hubble also the first one to measure the age of the universe? (by using Hubble's law) -

Undergrad Who was the first one to say universe is expanding?
So if I want to explain the expanding universe to someone I should first talk about Hubble and then Friedmann? (keeping all the other things aside for now)
