    Another explanation for the -cos(pi/6) is because that's the reference angle of cos(7pi/6); the cos being negative because it lies in Quadrant III as opposed to the first or fourth quadrant, where it would be positive. The reference angle tells you what kind of right triangle you're working...

    Bumping this thread as I'm curious on more opinions regarding Environmental Engineering. I'm currently working towards Structural Engineering, and while my parents support it fully, my dad has been trying to entertain the idea of me pursuing EnvEng.

    This is sound advice. :) One of my friends graduated from UCSD as an Aerospace Engineer with a 3.5 GPA and still had fun on the weekends with the occasional partying. Being an engineering major will demand a good deal of your time, but having balance is crucial. I would hate to look back at...
