Undergrad Ceiling and floor operators used for min max
Yes, that's definitely incorrect notation and most people will confuse it as exponents. As someone else stated, the notation that is correct and seen in programming languages is [7.8]=8 or [5.1]=5. These are more standard and less likely to be confused.- mathexam

Undergrad Why standard deviation is preferred over mean deviation?
Yeah, I believe it's similar in concept but defined differently as output. With standard deviation, 1 standard deviation entails 68% of the data, 2 standard deviations entails 95% of the data, while 3 is over 99% of the data. Mean deviation probably holds a different value in terms of this.- mathexam

Undergrad Why standard deviation is preferred over mean deviation?
Can you explain? What I think it is, is that standard deviation represents the answer differently but they are similar in concept. I know standard deviation also deal with how much the numbers vary from the mean of the group.- mathexam

High School How decimal division is explain in real life?
In real life, computations are not always precise. Some times, as in electronics, actually many times, you will have to deal with irrational numbers. Physics in general, especially at the atomic level, will not always deal with whole numbers.- mathexam

Undergrad Why standard deviation is preferred over mean deviation?
Standard deviation should be the same as mean deviation. Because the standard deviation is how much a set of values vary from the mean of the values. Apart from this, I'm not sure.- mathexam

Undergrad Concave/convex -- second derivative
Yeah, concavity is the second derivative. If f''(x) > 0, the function is concave up. If f"(x) < 0 the function is concave down. -

Battery Cut-Off Switch: How to Use & Apply on Vehicle
A way of designing this is first to figure out what voltage causes the turnoff. Then you could use a comparator to measure when this cutoff is reached. When the cutoff is reached, you could make separate circuitry that could do whatever you want at this point. This is how I would pursue it.- mathexam

Graduate Are all electrons perfectly identical?
Yeah, electrons are standard. They all have the same charge, which is fundamental to the electron. Even though their mass is probably not the same for all of them, it probably varies by an amount that is negligible and not worth discussion. So for all basic purposes, we shouldn't have to worry...- mathexam
