Calculate Thermal Resitance from Heat Sink Geometry
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention: this is free convection. So I can make whatever assumptions I need to about ambient temperature, air density, air viscosity, etc.- mcouch

Calculate Thermal Resitance from Heat Sink Geometry
Hi all, I have a heat sink for which I know the exact geometry (have the CAD model). This heat sink was custom designed and machined from a hunk of aluminum, though it is very basic and I have a hunch I can find an extrusion or OTS part that will match its performance. Rather than trying to...- mcouch

What would happen if two identical blowers were connected in a loop?
Settle an office debate: If we have two identical blowers and connected the inlet of Blower A up to the outlet of Blower B and then connected the inlet of Blower B up to the outlet of Blower A, what would happen to the flow rate at the outlet of either one when each one is energized...- mcouch

Newbie Question: Engineering as a hobby
I wouldn't say it isn't possible. It would just take a lot of discipline and time - not really a weekend kind of thing. Also, aside from LOTS of reading and doing problems out of textbooks, a lot of what I benefited from in my education was having the resources of the university I attended...- mcouch

Flexural Strength of Aluminum 6061?
Hi all, I've got a pressure vessel that is just an aluminum cylinder with flat caps welded to the ends. Currently, I doing some FEA to properly size those flat caps for a certain factor of safety. Since the pressure in the tank will cause a uniformly distributed load on the wetted surface of...- mcouch
