Ideas for something you wanted to do but can't do due to a disability

I'm partially colour blind which means I cannot fly fighter or commercial aircraft. I don't think I can be an electrician either - the training for which would have been useful given my job (Sound Engineer).

Dr. Who Returns to SciFi March 17th at 9PM!

Ah right, I understand. I don't think I have actually seen an aired pilot for a UK program. I have seen some claimed to be pilots after the date but I never heard of one being aired, at the time so to speak. Most 'pilots' for UK TV are fairly old now too, as if they don't bother any more.

Quiet pc's, are they a good idea?

Water cooling can be much better than air cooling, however it is expensive and has it's risks...you know water and electronics together. The idea of using less powerful CPU's is all good but at the end of the day the processor you need is dictated by the performance you want your computer to...

High School Energy Creation: Gravity as an Infinite Source

When the generating capacity of the network is more than demand then the extra energy is 'stored' by pumping the water up the hill. Then when there is more demand than capacity the water can be released providing a quick way of generating more electricity and meeting demand.

I know what a pilot is, I'm just confused as to what was shown as the pilot. I'm assuming this is in the states. Pilots rarely occur in the UK.

Which episode was a pilot? That episode of Doctor Who? It wasn't a pilot in the UK it was well into the second or third new series.

High School Energy Creation: Gravity as an Infinite Source

Sure, there are quite a few stations of this nature around the world to cope with spikes in demand.

The thing you have to remember for any simple/practical application to get energy from a object falling under gravity you first have to give it that energy by lifting it up. Thus no net energy is created.

Is there a centre to a singularity? I wouldn't have thought so.

High School Is Induced E.M.F a Force? Understanding Eddy Currents

I'm sorry but these questions are poory phrased. The way you have used the terms really don't make any sense. I'm assuming English isn't your first language. Anyway I will attempt to answer the questions that I think you mean to ask. EMF, or Electromotive Force, is to all intents and purposes...

Do ‘grounding’ and ‘earthing’ mean the same?

Yes they do mean the same thing.

Windows vs Mac: Which is Better?

I like that, is it actually true? I hope so. Anyway I'm an engineering undergraduate and a mac user, I have windows installed on my mac using bootcamp for the very rare occasion I have to use it. I also have my old PC which I use for any simulations but I still use OSX 99.9% of the time. It...

High School Why is the standard household AC frequency 60hz?

There is a benefit with transformers at higher frequencies...the transformer is not required to be as large. Indeed military power supplies (at least british ones) use high frequency so that the transformers etc are smaller, lighter and more easily transported.
