Differential Equation With Subsitution
Homework Statement I have to solve (y^2)(y'')=y' using substitution. Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution I substituted in v for y' and v*(dv/dy) for y'' and then I got stuck at dy/dx=-1/y+C. Am I doing this wrong, or am I just missing how to solve that second equation?- Moragor

Verifying Stokes' Theorem on F, S in First Octant
Homework Statement Verify Stokes' Theorem for F and S F=(y^2)i+(z^2)j+(x^2)k S is the first octant portion of x+y+z=1 Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution I know that it should be equal to -1 from Stoke's theorem, but I keep getting 1/4 when I use the normal surface...- Moragor

Flux of F over the surface of a cube
I did these three integrals \iint (1+y) dydz \iint z dxdz \iint x dxdy With -1 to 1 as the limits for all three. Do I need to split those up into two each for each side? I feel like I do but I'm not sure how to do that.- Moragor

Flux of F over the surface of a cube
Well that would make sense, the divergence theorem is the next section, haha. I was just following the example in the book multiplying the normal and F and finding the integral? (for each side, since it isn't continuous) Do you know any more elementary ways to do it?- Moragor

Flux of F over the surface of a cube
Homework Statement Find the flux of F over the surface of the cube with vertices ( \pm 1, \pm 1, \pm 1) using the outer normal. F(x,y,z)=(x+y)i+zj+xzk Homework Equations Flux of F over S is \iint F \cdot n dS The Attempt at a Solution I think the normal should be 1 in the...- Moragor

Double Integral Limits for a Sideways Rectangle
Homework Statement I have to solve the integral of (ytan^-1(x) - 3) inside the area of the rectangle with vertices (1,0), (0,1), (2,3), (3,2). How do I set up these limits? Homework Equations This is a tilted rectangle so I can't use just values for the limits? The Attempt at a...- Moragor
