High School What is the purpose of integration?
I'm not sure if it's right. It looks weird. Here's what I did: first, I integrated the formula for the car that is breaking. \int^{6}_{0} 36-t2 dt Then I used the fundamental theorem of calculus. [36t-\frac{1}{3}t3]^{6}_{0} Which would be -(36(6)-\frac{1}{3}(6)3)=-144 I'm... -

High School What is the purpose of integration?
uart, I think I get what you're saying, but I'm still not sure what the area under a curve says about the function itself. In general I mean. From what DmytriE said, I'm assuming you could tell the amount of work done of an accelerating car? What units is that measured in? Joules? -

High School What is the purpose of integration?
Right after learning integrals in my first calculus class, this past summer, I realized that they never told us how integrals are actually applied to the real world. Why would I want to know the area in an interval bounded by the curve and the x-axis? What does that say about the function... -

Engineering Is mechanical engineering for me?
I don't know if it's a bad thing or not, but I'm interesting in most things that I come across. I love computer science (I'm no expert, but I like learning it. I'm currently trying to figure out linux after dual booting with windows), but I also like hands-on work. According to my...- mrtn

Engineering Is mechanical engineering for me?
Hello! This is my first post :D Most of my life, I've been wanting to be a medical doctor. I dumped that idea in 2008 (I graduated high school in 2009). Ever since then, it's been an off-and-on relationship. However, I ignore it because the reason I don't want to be a medical doctor is...- mrtn
