Graduate Lagrangian of the system of two masses
I'm going to sit down and do this when I get a chance. But for now, it looks like you are only going to need one generalized coordinate to completely define the system. I would use the y-coord of m1. -

Graduate Divergence questions from Griffith's Electrodynamics
Griffiths is right. If you look at the wiki (or anywhere else) for a qualitative explanation of divergence, you will find, "More technically, the divergence represents the volume density of the outward flux of a vector field from an infinitesimal volume around a given point. " -wiki So...- Natey213
