How does a jet-engine compressor compress air?
I forgot about axial flows getting a small rise at each stage. Its common to find centrifugal compressors on helicopter engines and APUs. The popular Allison 250 has a few stages of axial feeding a centrifugal. Centrifugal compressors require less power for starting.- nickyfs

HELP: self-locking nut run-on torque check
Keep in mind that self locking nuts loose some grip every time they are removed. Every fastener on an old airplane ends up with a lot more tension than they were intended to have. This is because only one torque spec is published and mechanics aren't smart enough to compensate for used hardware.- nickyfs

Gas turbine compressors only accelerate air. The pressure rise comes when the fast moving air is dumped into the larger volume combustion section. Its all about Bernoullis principle.- nickyfs
