Books on Tensor Algebra: Good Reading Material Sources
Thanks, "Tensor Analysis on Manifolds" seems to explain it in a good manner. If I got the general picture correctly, it abstracts the concept of vectors in a similar manner as vectors abstracts the concept of scalars, which in all fairness makes a lot of sense.- Noblee

Graduate Verifying Inner Product Space: q(x)e^-(x^2/2)
Check using the definition of an inner product would be my initial suggestion. 1) (u|u)\geq 0 and 0 iff u = 0 2) (\alpha u+ \beta v|w) = \alpha (u|w) + \beta (v|w) Aka that it is linear If this holds true \forall u,v,w then the inner product is defined for the said space and is thus a...- Noblee

Should I Still Apply to Cambridge with My Current Grades and Health Challenges?
Well, I just graduated from IB myself, but in Sweden, and have applied once through UCAS, so I might be able to help. I myself got a blackout during the Math HL exams, but got a total of 39 points at least. Either way, to me it seems like you really have no much to worry about, your grades seems...- Noblee

Programs PhD in EU (UK) vs USA: Pros & Cons
Well, as for Sweden you will have to get your masters first, they won't trust that you know anything otherwise. but there are some interesting research going on, check out Lund University, Uppsala University, Umeå University, and maybe Chalmers Institute of Technology, in a decreasing order of...- Noblee

Choosing Between Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh: A Student's Dilemma"
Hello again, I have a little dilemma that I have spent a lot of time thinking about, and I was hoping someone here could help me out, it would be very kind of you to do so. During the last UCAS application process I got accepted to an undergrad programme in Physics at Heriot-Watt...- Noblee

Schools What is Studying Physics at UK Universities Like?
its 2011/2012, you an international student come here for next semester (degrees are starting both autumn and spring) you don't have to pay anything. for that sake the tuition fee will probably be very low, since paying for education goes against soooooooooo many of our socialist thought around...- Noblee

Schools What is Studying Physics at UK Universities Like?
Well, I think I can explain the Swedish system, since I currently study at the University of Lund (am going to Heriot-Watt in Edinburgh next year though). First of all, if you go to Sweden, there are only three universities here with a decent budget, which is Lund, Uppsala och Linköping in a...- Noblee

Programs Dream of taking a PhD in physics
Thanks everyone for all the replies! You have helped me a great deal! So, if I got this correctly, doing EE will actually improve my understanding of QM, which might in turn might help me get a PhD? Does this apply to theoretical as well as experimental physics? Or is it better to take...- Noblee

Programs Dream of taking a PhD in physics
Thanks once again! All you say seems very sensible, should probably add some more mathematics as well, since that is one of my major interests as well. Hmm, as for a PhD, would it be better to have a combined Phys +EE degree, plain phys or mathematical phys degree? (and for future...- Noblee

hmm, wouldn't the best approach be to take a broad course in the beginning and then talk to professors working with experimental and professors working with theoretical? or?- Noblee

Thank you very very much for such a thorough answer! :) but as usual when you answer one question, new ones arises. About the flexibility, according to the professor I have spoken to I can actually change my degree once I get there, meaning that I can change to physics or mathematical physics...- Noblee
