How Should Uncertainties Be Represented When Significant Figures Differ?

Homework Statement When doing operations with numbers with uncertainties, if the significant figures of the resultant number's uncertainty is lower the significant figures of the resultant number, how should I show the resultant uncertainty. For example, Homework Equations if you do the...

Does Faraday's Law of Electrolysis Measure Mass Change at One Electrode or Both?

Homework Statement According to the Faraday's law of electrolysis, does the mass given as a result indicate the total difference of the masses of both the anode or cathode, or just one electrode? Thank you Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution

Error Analysis of Experiment Data: Calculating Percentage and Absolute Error

Homework Statement In my latest experiment, I have found two sets of data from the data processing. Normally, the values in the data sets should be equal, but they are not as a result of the error of the experiment. How can I do the error analysis? (Percentage Error, absolute error...)...

    Differential equation for exponential growth

    Wouldn't the operation be ((( * e^(kt))-50000)* e^(kt))-50000)-50000... and e^(kt) must be 1.6 since it grows into %160 of its initial population in 4 hours. Therefore t is 4 or 240 depending on the time interval. I solved e^(k * 240) = 1,6 to find k.

    Electric force in electric field

I suppose that the 10 kv supply will unleash its energy instantaneously. You must have a continuous electric field to exert a power. I don't think that would work, other that warming up the needle. You may need to create a magnetic field.

    Differential equation for exponential growth

    Sorry, I posted wrong again. The function is P(t) = 10^6 * e^(ln(1,6) * t / 240) You mean 50000/60 = 833,33? and Should I write: dP/dt = P*k -833,33 and than integrate? Bu that would be the same as P(t) = 10^6 * e^(ln(1,6) * t / 240) - 833,33t I don't think that would work. Or should I take...

    Differential equation for exponential growth

Homework Statement Viruses are reproducing exponentially, while the body eliminates the viruses. The elimination rate is constant, 50000 per hour. I decided to take down on the minute level, so it would be 50000/60. Pinitial is 10^6 k is ln(1,6)/240, since the growth rate is 160% in 4...

Exponential growth with an elimination rate

Yes you are right. I was in a bit of hurry when posted this. The variable should be t. We have just finished integral and started differential equations in school, so I kind of guessed that the problem might be solved that way. Other than that thank you very much. You somehow manage to help...

Exponential growth with an elimination rate

Homework Statement Viruses are reproducing with rate of k ,in t minutes, the function is: f(x) = Po x e^(kt) However there is an elimination rate of a viruses per minute. Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution We can't say that the new function will be: f(x) = Po x e^(kt)...

How can I expand my extended essay subject?

Homework Statement Hi, I have chosen direct current measurement techniques as my extended essay subject. I've written only 2000 words, but I am completely out of anything to write. I can't do alternative current, because I don't have the necessary apparatus. How can I expand my subject so I...
