Graph Vo vs Vin: Zener Diode Behavior
There is a variable Vin which goes through a resistor to a node (Vo) which then branches through a diode to a 3V source or to ground through a Zener diode. I'm to sketch the graph of Vo as a function of Vin. -4V < Vin < 4V The resistor is 1K The diode is CVD model, Von is .7V, Vzener = 2.7V...- nwilkins259

What does the 97% storage efficiency of a flywheel represent?
In my exploration of energy storage options i came across a statistic several times that given a vacuum and magnetic bearings, a flywheel can achieve 97% storage efficiency. Whether its true or not, what does 97% represent? Does it imply that the energy will hold regardless of time and its a...- nwilkins259

Distance sensors for Trilateralization
Was looking for a cool project concept involving a remote helicopter and I decided on trying to triangulate its location and maybe make it autonomous. Started doing the math and realized i was really looking to trilateralize its location using the magnitude of 3 distance sensors set in a...- nwilkins259

Hex subtraction and overflow/carry flags
Isn't the first thing the comp does when it sees minus is to take the 2's compliment? Wouldn't that make this 71+57, which woulld not carry but would be overflow?- nwilkins259

Hex subtraction and overflow/carry flags
Signed hex subteaction of 71-A9, i get C8. My question is whether the flags carry/borrow or overflow occurred. Its a positive number and a neg number so can it be overflow? Or is it the same as subtracting a neg number...?- nwilkins259

C59D signed hex to Binary/Octal/Decimal?
Stuck on a homework question Convert the signed hex number C59D to Binary/Octal/Decimal Binarys easy = 1100 0101 1001 1101 Decimal i got = -14947 but I am not sure about octal, I am getting 142635, which can't be right because its a positive value, the answer should be a (signed) neg...- nwilkins259

Programs Should I/Can I Double Major in EE and ME
I'm currently a 3rd year (on a 5yr plan) EE major, but I've always been interested in ME, is it too late (or inadvisable or impossible) to start double majoring in ME now? EE's not easy but I am not struggling too badly. I have a very vague idea of the double majoring process, would that be...- nwilkins259

Laplace Transform with Double Roots
Apologies, I've been staring at these equations for so long I've lost context. A/(s+3)^2 + B/(s+3) = (s+12)/[(s+3)^2]- nwilkins259

Laplace Transform with Double Roots
I'm trying to prepare for an exam and we were warned that the Laplace transforms given to us may have Complex roots, double roots, or double complex roots. I'm comfortable with complex roots, but I can't find a problem in the textbook that deals with double roots, and I haven't used them since...- nwilkins259
