Mass Determination Using Torque and Equilibrium: A Meter Stick Experiment

I would try to use the string the Washers and the pencil to somehow create a truck. I would put the meter stick on it and somehow give it a certain force ( like tie it with the metal rod) and count the time it needs to go some distance. Then I would repeat that replacing though the Meter stick...

    Block falling on spring/max compression

I have some things in mind: yes your final equation is wrong. The 2ho is above the spring but the spring is compressed by an amount x. This amount also contributes as Potential energy ( its under the point of zero of Potential Gravitational Energy).

Solve for Person's Final Height After Jumping Off Bridge

I see your mistake at the first part. What is x and what is h? X is not counted from the bridge. x is the distance from the neutral position of the spring. You use it like it s the distance from the bridge. You can either use the Conservation of Energy at h=40m ( when the spring starts...

Force Needed to Slide Trunk Down Inclined Plane with Constant Velocity

    1) Why is Fnet = Fp + Wx - Ff? Both Wx and Ff oppose to the Fp. 2) Also about the new force. Imagine that you want to get a box down of a hill. In order it comes down sweet how you need to act? Also the Constant velocity is the key point here. Also think that the velocity must be Opposite...

What is the Maximum Frictional Force for a Block Against a Vertical Wall?

AA I see.. The frictional force is a very special force. The value you find is the Maximum frictional force that can exist between the wall and the body. This force in this situation is equal to the weight. Think about a heavy book on your desk.. You start pushing it ( its not moving ). you...

What is the Potential Power Output of a Waterfall?

Do you understand your mistake in your first attempt? The time you are given is not the time the motion of 2000kg lasts.

Calculating Time for a 90 Degree Turn in Circular Motion

    That T= 2LaTeX Code: \\pi r/v is the time it needs to cover a full circle (360*) So what's the time to cover 1/4 360*? Thats time=T/4 = 1/4* 2πR/v.

What is the Maximum Frictional Force for a Block Against a Vertical Wall?

What don't you like? I can't see a mistake and it seems normal that it won't move.

Calculating Relative Speed of Body Parts After Internal Explosion

Do you need the solution? Or guide lines. The first thing that you should think when it says internal is ΔP=0. Also what really caught my attention is the relative to the other part means..

Conservation of energy problem on an igloo

How did you find 3.16? Kinetic in the initial condition is not zero.. You are trying to find the velocity.. How could it be zero? Also think about what happens at the exact moment it leaves the semicircle and what kind of motion it executes.. You didnt write one equation you need. Hope it helps

Simple Harmonic Motion, Velocity at a certain time

Look inside your sine. It is 15t+2p. That means that for t=0 you have sin2p. That implies the body has already finished one period of motion which is not true ( or it is but you started measuring time after 1 period). think that sin(wt+a) (where a is an angle) when a =2p that means that...

[Guidance needed]-Compute the Magnitude and Direction of the Resultant Couple

About direction imagine how it will move. Will it go up down right or will it execute a circular motion? IT's your job to define the possitive and the negative direction. That means you can say whether clockwise is possitive or negative.

[Check for errors]- FREE BODY DIAGRAM for 2 Cylinders.

Still its better to draw the FBD with notation and then state the numbers.

[Check for errors]- FREE BODY DIAGRAM for 2 Cylinders.

Its better not to put numbers in FBDs. They are to help you. You can then write the equations and substitute the numbers.

[Check for errors]- FREE BODY DIAGRAM for 2 Cylinders.

W=mg its a formulae.. You don't need to worry abou this. It's more convenient to write mg rather than W while it means the exact same thing. No1 would never argue about that. You always show the weight except if the problem states that it s negligible ( which is very very rare ).
