[Quantum Mechanics]Uncertainty principle
I have a question for Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. Here is the question: You are driving your car when you race thru a stop sign and get subsequently pulled over. The cop measured your speed within a meter of the stop sign. You decide to use the uncertainty principle as your defense...- pezzang

Graduate A question in Kepler's second and third laws.
pervect, how would you prove that mathematically rather than verbally saying it? Is there any equation that would justify your statement? I am not a physics person so I don't really know what you are saying until I see mathematical equations that could clarify my understanding.- pezzang

Graduate A question in Kepler's second and third laws.
Ok, here are my final questions after perusing over your replies. 1.How do we deduce that (1/2)h is in fact constant? I know that angular momentum has to be constant but HOW DO WE PROVE IT? 2.in a part where I have to show that h^2/(GM) = ed = b^2/a, I found out that e and d were...- pezzang

Graduate A question in Kepler's second and third laws.
I am doing this project on kepler's law and can't figure out something. part a (in the process of proving kepler's second law)of this is to show that h = |r|^2(d(theta)/dt) k when r = (|r|cos(theta))i + (|r|sin(theta))j and h = r x r' = r x v. I showed it by taking derivative of r and cross...- pezzang

Answer AP Physics Q: Moment of Inertia, Angular Accel, Tension, Torque, & RKE
Thank you again for your advice. I have found part (b) but i really can't solve part (c) and (d). Can you please explain the answer in detail? Meanwhile here is part (b) (b) a(tan) = (dv)/(dt) = r*(dw)/(dt) = r*alpha. a(tanA) = a(tanB) R*alpha = (2R)*alpha(B) alpha(b) =...- pezzang

Answer AP Physics Q: Moment of Inertia, Angular Accel, Tension, Torque, & RKE
Than you so much. Here is what I have so far after getting your advice. (a) Moment of Inertia of a disk is equal to I = (MR^2) / 2. So, I(B) = (1/2) (M)(2R)^2 = 2MR^2. Therefore, the answer is 2MR^2. (b) Since the disks are connected by a chain, they have the same angular acceleration...- pezzang
